Building a Temple?
Season after Pentecost, 2012
Friday, July 20

Thus says the LORD: "Are you the one to build me a house to live in?"

Greetings!

The story makes sense, really: David, who was a man after God's own heart, had a nice palace, so he wanted to build the Lord a nice house, too.

Only one problem: God didn't want David to do that. God said, in effect, "Really? You're the one to build me a house?"

And then God said this:

"When your days are fulfilled and you lie down with your ancestors, I will raise up your offspring after you, who shall come forth from your body.... He shall build a house for my name...."

Simple question for you: After you read the Scripture for Sunday, answer the question, "Why did God say no to David?" What might "dwelling" (that we've been talking about lately) have to do with the answer?

Already looking forward to worshiping with you!

Love you and see you Sunday...

King David
