The Cross and the Covenant:
Ten Commandments
The Season of Lent, 2012
Saturday, March 10

Then God spoke all these words:

Greetings!

Most everyone is familiar with the Ten Commandments, right? Or at least we're familiar with the movie where Charlton Heston receives them from Cecil B. DeMille with great special effects. But I have one question for you as you prepare for Sunday worship, and as you go back and re-read the words that God spoke to His people in the long ago:

I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery; you shall have no other gods before me.

Have you ever read the Ten Commandments in the context of "Covenant"?

We're learning a lot about covenant these days as we walk through the journey of Lent. What light does the covenant lens cast on the Ten Commandments as you look at them in that way?

Walking the journey of Lent with you,

PS: Don't forget about the GLORIOUS Time Change this weekend. We spring forward one hour (Yippee). (Sarcasm).
