The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, "Follow me." |
One of Christ's primary missions was to preach the Good News and, in doing so, He glorified the Father. Two of the passages featured for this particular Sunday make an especially interesting comparison: in John's gospel, where some of disciples meet Jesus for the first time), and the first Book of Samuel. In both places, a word from the Lord seems to come from an unlikely source.
Then the LORD called, "Samuel! Samuel!" and he said, "Here I am!"
Samuel is but a boy serving in the Temple, and Jesus is from Nazareth, of all places. But think for a bit about where the authority to speak the word of the Lord-- to preach-- comes from.
Take some time to check out all the Scriptures for this Sunday: (see the next column) and let's gather for worship ready to talk about Christ's authority and, more important, to worship His majesty.
The Lord be with you!
PS: Here's a fun idea for you: Think of a symbol of authority-- be creative-- and bring it along with you on Sunday. It's going to be interesting to see what you bring! |
