In our newsletter, sent out yesterday, we announced a new program that will begin in mid-late October. Based on some of the questions we have received, we see that perhaps we didn't explain the details enough.
Our new show via our web site, "Mastering Woodworking with Charles Neil", will premier in October. We thought a long while on what to call the show and we feel that the title sums it up. Our goal is to increase your knowledge and build your skills in woodworking as well as give you the confidence to build anything you can imagine in your workshop.
We have received many e-mails over the years from folks wishing they could participate in classes here at our workshop but economics makes it impossible, very understandable. The show's target audience is serious woodworkers, but it doesn't matter
what skill level you are at now, even if you are a beginner, you will
learn.
In the show, we will be giving the same intense instruction that goes on in our classes.
Let's get to the details, perhaps a little clearer than in the newsletter.
- The show is only available to subscribers, it is username/password protected.
- When you log into our web site with your username/password, the video player will play the current episode of the show. The episode will change on Thursdays at 7:00pm EST.
- Previous episodes will be archived and you will be able to watch them at any time in the future.
- At the completion of a project series, a complete DVD of the project will be available to subscribers only for the cost of making the DVD. It WILL NOT be released to non-subscribers from our DVD store.
- There will be a forum that as a subscriber, you can access from this page (different from our regular forum) for you to post questions, make comments and for general discussions about the show with other subscribers and myself.
- The show's first project will be a Corner cupboard made of Tiger Maple.
Billing Details:
- The cost of the subscription is $19.95 per month and will be billed to your credit card or PayPal account every 30 days.
- You may cancel your subscription at any time and you will have access for a full 30 days from your last payment. At the end of those 30 days, your username/password will be removed from the subscriber list database. No refunds, whole or partial.
- In the newsletter and at the end of this email is a Subscribe button. By clicking on this button, you will be charged $19.95, this payment covers the first 30 days which begins when the first episode airs. Payments are charged 30 days in advance. I want to be very clear, we must have a minimum number of subscribers to make the show self-sustaining.
- Should we reach the minimum number, you will receive an email from us with instructions on registering for the show - at this time you will need to click on a new subscription button that will activate the monthly billing cycle.
- Should we NOT reach the minimum number of subscribers, you will receive a full refund of your payment.
Now, if you are asking what is different about the show than a DVD? Well, in the show I am not confined to time limits to show you something, with a DVD I have to try and keep it within a limit, sometimes not being able to show absolutely everything. In the show, you will be at my side from picking the lumber to rubbing out the final finish. For instance, when working with tiger maple, there are a lot of things I consider when picking the lumber for my project and I won't skip over these details, and no matter what you may decide to build from tiger maple, these same issues must be addressed and looked at.
It is not my goal to have you duplicate my corner cupboard or any other project that we make in the show, but you will have enough information to do so, you can build side by side with me if you like. My goal is to teach you from my experience what techniques to use, when to use them and how to apply them so that you can be creative with your own projects. I want you to be a successful woodworker using your thoughts, your skills and your hands to make heirlooms for generations to come.
