Ooops....we made a typo in the registration forms for the Annual Meeting!!

Last week we sent out registration packets for the Annual Meeting.  The clergy banquet reference on the first page has October 6th as the date.  The actual date on that is NOVEMBER 8TH.  Please make note of this change.

Insurance Update

We have received word that a group called UCIG (United Christian Insurance Group) may be contacting churches in the Conference.

Please do not confuse this group with the United Church Insurance Board (UCIB) which is our recommended insurance provider and provides the coverage for the majority of our churches.

If you would like more information about the insurance plan, please contact the conference minister or our local agent, Jon Prange at 316-522-9336.

Higher Education Sunday is October 28

October 28 is Higher Education Sunday on the UCC Calendar.

Higher Education Sunday is an opportunity to lift up the work of UCC-affiliated colleges and universities. It can also be a time to celebrate and pray for the UCC-affiliated seminaries in our region. Liturgical resources are available on the website for CUE (Chicago, United, Eden) Seminaries. Your congregation can also request bulletin inserts, posters, offering envelopes, or a five-minute DVD about the seminaries. www.cueseminaries.org

Mission Works is coming!!

Come learn from our global partners and over 20 current Missionaries from all over the world!!

October 25-27th in Cleveland, OH

Theme: Learning from Global Partners

Often People-to-People Pilgrimage participants or returning missionaries say: "I received so much more from our Global Partners than I was able to give." During ĦMissionworks! (Thursday dinner until Saturday noon), we will take the time to share specifically through keynote addresses, panel discussions, missionary presentations, break-out groups, worship and a global mission fair what we are learning from Global Partners and how we are translating those learnings into action in our local settings. We will reflect on:

· what we are learning about doing God's mission from our international partners and how we are applying those learning to become a more mission-focused church.

· what our brothers and sisters around the world are teaching us about relationships and living in community and how we are attempting to become a more community-oriented people in our ways of being church in our setting.

The Ministries and Mission Interpreters (MMI) network of Global Ministries has grown to almost 1300 Disciples and UCC who have participated in an MMI training. During the MMI training portion of this weekend (Saturday noon to Sunday noon) we will offer different training segments on specific areas of focus for you to re-charge your batteries, learn new skills and share your passion in a specific ministry area. Each participant will develop an action plan.

1. Basic MMI training - for first-timers who want the initial training.

2. Region/Conference MMI Coordinators - for MMIs designated to nurture the MMI network and coordinate MMI activities in a specific region/conference.

3. People-to-People Pilgrimages - for MMIs who have a passion for international group mission trips.

4. Global Church Partnerships - for MMIs who have a passion for nurturing reciprocal relationships with global partners and their conference/region.

5. Global Advocacy & Justice - for MMIs who have a passion for specific global advocacy issues.

Partial scholarships are available for participants who attend both the ĦMissionworks! and MMI training and who have a recommendation from their region/conference staff.

This is open to all churches who have youth going through confirmation.

The plan is for each church that has youth coming to this event that at least one youth confirmation leader attend with the youth. As a camp we will work with the leaders to help plan this weekend to be the best experience for our youth.

While camp and Outdoor Ministries will lead most of this retreat there will be a couple of break out sessions where the input from confirmation leaders will be needed. Please contact the camp office for more information. Please feel free to share this with other churches in your community.
