Newsletter - Summer 2011

Greetings!

Summer is here and the humidity in Florida is making it almost unbearable to truly enjoy weekends at the beach. Spencer, my 6 yr. old son, is enjoying his days at summer camp and although I'm jealous of all the activities posted on the calendar on the fridge, I am very happy to spend my days in the comfort of my air-conditioned home office.

I have decided to kick off the summer with a brand new look for my newsletter. Maybe it's the Gemini in me, but I thrive on change, even if it's something as simple as moving my desk supplies every now and then from one area of my desk to another.

For me, summertime "busy"ness is related to my clients' "busy"ness. Do you have a business that thrives or dies during the summer months? Are you planning on taking a "break" from your business or will you be spending your summer ramping things up for busier times? Maybe you will start implementing some of your marketing ideas, updating the look of your Facebook welcome page, or writing some new articles for your blog?

This summer, whether you plan to travel or work on your business, I hope you will take a look at my website. I'm sure there are ways I can help. I would be happy to hear from you and to discuss how I can help you to cover your bases while away - or provide and implement some fresh new ideas you hadn't thought of.

I hope you enjoy the new look and the content I have included in this issue. I invite you to provide your input on what you think and to let me know what you would like to see in future editions. You can click here to provide your feedback and I thank you in advance for your insights. Enjoy your summer!

My son Spencer recently graduated from Kindergarten and during the ceremony I quietly reflected on his past year of school and how much he'd grown and matured. I realized that Kindergarten has already started to establish the basic fundamentals for his future. Amazingly, he has been able to remind me of some things we should all be incorporating into our professional lives, especially as business owners.

Listen and pay attention. By taking careful notes and listening to your customer, you will be more informed and capable of performing in a way that will meet or exceed their expectations- the first time.

Be at your desk and ready to work on time. Dependability is very important to customers. They want to know that you are available and accessible if anything ever arises.

Say you're sorry when you hurt somebody. We all make mistakes, but how we handle those mistakes is what people will remember. Don't make excuses for yourself- own the mistake and make sure you offer a solution. Your customer will appreciate your honesty.

Put things back where you found them. Stay organized! It will do wonders if you have issues with time-management.

And my personal favorite: Work as a team. No one person is able to do everything themselves. Relying on the skills and ideas of others will do nothing but strengthen the business and relationships you have already established. The foundation of my business is built on teamwork. As a virtual assistant, my customers rely on me to produce quality results and represent them in a professional manner. They appreciate that I am part of their team and understand that my main goal will always be to help them grow and succeed in their industry.

QUESTION

How will you be able to help get me motivated, out of a rut, reduce my feeling of overwhelm, and ultimately help me to grow my business?

ANSWER:

My guess is that your lack of motivation and being in a rut is due to your overwhelm. You are too involved in the everyday administrative functions of the business, but feel you have to be, otherwise it breaks down. If you allow me to streamline your systems and take control of them, delegate tasks, and handle myself those that need my brand of intelligence or special skills, you will then feel the weight lifted from your shoulders, and your motivation will return. Reading my testimonials, you will see this is exactly how I have changed the lives of so many of my clients. And getting a kick out of their joy motivates me!

One of my greatest abilities is to "get into the head" of my clients, I know how they think and want things done, I appreciate the image they need to project, so I don't go blindly with my own ideas but I blend them with my clients' to produce a "better organized" totality. (Just one other advantage, this enables me to write as if it is my client writing, which cuts down on a lot of time my clients would be spending doing this themselves.)  For example, I can create an Operations Manual for your business so we can have each process, template and script documented so time is not spent unnecessarily on repetitive tasks.

Where I can help to generate more income for your business would be to create and/or maintain your database, follow up with your prospects so they don't fall out of your pipeline, provide timely responses to your inquiries, and provide ideas and implement effective strategies in the areas of social media, Ezines, article marketing, etc. I already have the skills and know-how for these types of projects and as I become more familiar with your business, I imagine I will find other creative ideas.
