I hope you're enjoying some sweet summer days. I've settled into a wonderful routine off the road at last: reading, working on the new book and of course, making sure to have a bit of summer fun.

Coming Full Circle

The summer started off great as I felt like I came full circle when I shared the stage at Book Expo with Bellwether winners Hillary Jordan, newly announced winner Susan Nussbaum, and the wonderful, magical woman writer who created the prize: Barbara Kingsolver. |

Salute to Excellence Award
|
 I got a happy surprise last week when I learned that I had won (along with a team of four other writers) a Salute to Excellence Award from the National Association of Black Journalists for Magazine Commentary/Essay.
