A Booklist Top 10 Debut & Ebony Magazine Power 100!
Greetings!
My year-long book tour has at last come to an end with a great event at the Miami International Book Fair where I met the talented writer Edwidge Danticat. (Thank you to author-extraordinaire Bernice McFadden for taking this photo!)
The Buzz: Top Honors for The Girl Who Fell From the Sky
As the year comes to a close, the good news keeps coming. Booklist Magazine has named The Girl Who Fell From the Sky as a Top 10 Debut. And the December/January issue of Ebony Magazine names me to its Power 100 List (along with writers Ntozake Shange, Malcolm Gladwell, and Edwidge Danticat) as an emerging leader in Arts & Letters. (The issue is on newstands now with Vanessa Williams on the cover.)
Just One
I have asked so much of each of you this year and you have all so generously given me your support. I hope that you will do just one more favor for me before the year ends: please tell one more person about The Girl Who Fell From the Sky --whether that's by forwarding this email, by telling someone over a meal, by updating your Facebook Status, or by tweeting this news. And if you're on Goodreads.com, I hope you'll take a minute to vote in the Goodreads Choice Awards where I'm nominated for Best Debut Author.
Again, thank you all for your support! Happy Holidays! I hope to see you on the road in 2011!
P.S. If you haven't seen it yet, check out my Keynote Commencement Address at Clark College this past June! I swear wearing the regalia gave me an itch to finally do a Ph.D.--but first I must finish the new book!
