What's up, Twitter?
At a recent American Marketing Association luncheon, the speaker recommended no more than 30 tweets a day on Twitter. Outside of an act of God or natural disaster, what organization or person has that much worthwhile information? Twitter currently supports 50,000,000 tweets per day, with an average of 600 per second, pushing even the biggest and best tweets out of this universe.
Unlike Facebook, Twitter does not require a community or network to participate. Anyone can follow a celebrity, government official, or any person or organization immediately and without approval and regardless of the type of account. So while the noise is greater than relationship social networking, the opportunities to reaching someone outside of your network, is also greater.
Working to combat Twitter's challenges, veteran tech developer Bill Gross of Tweetup.com and founder of Idealab, recently launched a new start-up. Like paid internet searches, Gross is out to build a better search engine, filtering tweets with paid bids on key works and the ranking of retweets.
Twitter also announced a feature, called @anywhere, which will allow you to embed Twitter functionality, right into your website with only a few lines of javascript. Several organizations have committed to integrating, including: Amazon, msnbc, and the New York Times.

Pay Telephone 1889-1995 Best Part: As a high schooler, my mom would have me put a dime in my shoe when I went on a date (seriously), just in case I needed to phone home.

Drinking Fountains 1906 - 2007 Best Part: Who wants to tote a water bottle everywhere? With land fill concerns, maybe we'll see this one make a come back.

USPS Changes-
The Sac Bee recently featured an article stating that 1 of 3 USPS consultants, McKinley, recommended reducing USPS delivery to 3 days a week. While we're happy to see, that the USPS did not endorse this suggestion, they will likely eliminate Saturday mail delivery. This is what our locals have to say about the change:
Tom McCarthy, Operations Director for Downey Brand, stated that "We'll get it done earlier ourselves or incur additional expenses."
Spokesman Ron Rogers with SureWest, states "we use mail quite a bit but a slight change in postal service delivery probably wouldn't have much of an impact on us."
