days spent prayer walking the streets of ancient cities...
nights spent meeting with modern-day Biblical heroes...
shalom and marhaba!
It has been three years since God took me on a
mission trip, and He and I (and six others) are headed back on one this coming
November. We are journeying back to the
Holy Land, from Jerusalem to Jericho, from Bethlehem to BirZeit, where we
will be spending twelve days praying over the land and with its people.
The land has been in spiritual, political and
social turmoil for over sixty years. It is an immensely complex and yet beautifully
simple situation that we are headed into.
We want to walk the streets and pray for change (rather than fight for
change, for we do not wage war as the world does). We want to see prayer
answered.
We made many contacts back in 2007, and we will
be visiting them and others to hear how they're doing, learn what we can do to
support them, pray with and encourage them, and be encouraged and prayed over
in return. This trip is about
relationships and about powerful prayer alongside believers in other lands.
One of the key things our team of seven has
recently been learning is that we suck at prayer. We spend our time talking *to* God instead of
talking *with* Him. We spend our time
asking for things *we* think are good, rather than asking Him what *He* wants
us to ask for. And we are more focused
on finding things to improve our external circumstances, rather than improving
our internal and eternal character. We
want this trip to change us, and to change us dramatically.
And thus I am seeking your
help.
I need you to pray with me, leading up to this trip and during it. I would love for you and others to cast a net of prayer over this entire
process. And then we can all watch and
marvel as the LORD steps in and impacts the whole thing in real, specific and
un-looked for ways. So may I count on
you for praying for this trip? I
will be sending out a monthly email, up to November, highlighting the whole
process, celebrating the victories and pushing through the challenges. I really would like to have you a part of
this. If you're interested, simply let
me know.
The financial needs of the
trip total around $21,000 for the whole team, the majority of which we need to
raise by August 05. So if you feel nudged by God to tack on a
financial donation to your prayer support, by all means, we'll take it! Any donation you make is tax-deductible, as Rekindling
Ministries is administering everything for us. (Any surplus in donations
will go to Rekindling's other ministry work, including workshops, small groups,
counseling & future mission trips.)
After prayerfully considering all this, if you want to be a part of this whole crazy thing,
simply fill out the attached form and mail it back to me.
passionately His and sincerely yours,
shannon w kirkpatrick
