You, O Lord, give perfect peace to the person whose mind is steadfast on Thee, because they trust in Thee.                        Isaiah 26:3

my friends!!

the Israel team is back from their mission, and the mission was a success.  We have at least one more person that we get to take a walk with in Heaven!  (How awesome is that??) And beyond that, there were many, many smiles put on faces that normally feel sadness.  God used this team in seen ways and in ways unseen.  I'll let co-lead Heather describe more.

There are also a couple of interesting events coming up in the next few weeks, so read on...

TRIP SUMMARY!

Flight, Fight or PersevereI've talked briefly with Heather, the 'founder' of this trip, and just the few stories, challenges and victories she shared with me stirred me.

I'll let her summarize it the experience in her own words:

"We are back from Israel! We had beautiful weather, sat under the teaching of Lon, and prepared for an incredible week ahead on the mission field.  Like all things with the Lord, the mission week was not under our control but under His.  I love the expression "Life happens while we are busy planning" and that is certainly what happened.  Shalva hosted us for two full days.  They truly rolled out the red carpet and we learned a great deal from them.  They brought everyone from the Executive Director to the volunteers.  We saw a common theme, no ego and all for the benefit of the children.  It was a great time for us.

From there, we had lots of time to fill and the Lord gave us an incredible schedule.  We had two days of sharing Christ in the streets of Jerusalem and also in Tel Aviv.  We made many contacts, gathered emails and facebook addresses.  We also had the pleasure of seeing an older gentleman in Tel Aviv come to accept the Lord. His incredible desire to be obedient to God allowed us to pray with him and ask God to make it clear what to do next.  After the prayer he said he could feel the warmth in the center of the other person's hands.  He said he felt peace, hope, joy, and he knew that was from God. Within seconds his face began to glow, he was happy and would not leave our sides.  We explained today was his spiritual birthday and he began to sign "Happy Birthday" in English with us. In God's economy that was worth every minute and penny of preparing and attending the trip.  This man is now connected with some local missionaries and is getting bible lessons and support in his community.

We also spent some time prayer walking and understanding the people in more depth.  We were able to talk to shop owners.  We met some sisters who own a store who told their story of a suicide bomber coming in and destroying the store, and later hearing the same group took tractors and ran over the Jewish people in the streets of the marketplace.  They explained the way they live, how they feel, and life at this time.

Ministry was everywhere for us, the lesson was to not presume that you are ever "off duty" with God.  We were used on the tour with some non-believers, serving those who are believers, spreading the word of Shalva and Jill's House, and talking about the people of Israel.  Spreading the word of Jesus took place while we ate, when we walked in the streets, with our drivers, the staff at Shalva, the shop keepers, and the hotel staff.  We truly were praying without ceasing asking for God for those opportunities.

Your prayers for us were truly felt and we thank you for your financial support, your prayer support, your cards, messages, and your friendship across the seas.  It was amazing to know that around the clock we had at least one person at all times praying for us.  We were up against a great deal of spiritual attack and for that we are so thankful for your constant prayers!   As we come back to the states we ask that you continue to pray for each team member to adjust back to the routine here, but to also take all that was learned and apply it here in the states.

Stay tuned for a share night to come where we can tell you in more details all that took place!"

Shalom
Team Israel 2009

PRAYER CHAINS ROCK!
Flight, Fight or PersevereWe had 67 people (in 3 different countries and at least 6 different states) sign up for the 48 slots of the prayer chain . It was awesome to see every single slot filled up, knowing that the Israel team would have at least one person praying for them every second of the entire 8 days of the mission.

So I just want to give a big shout out to the 67 who participated in the chain.  God got glorified that we were living out
James 5:16, 1 Corinthians 12:25-27, 2 Timothy 1:3, 2 Thessalonians 1:11, 1 Thessalonians 5:17, Acts 1:14 and Ephesians 6:18.  It is very exciting for me to see Christians in the 21st-century living like Christians of the 1st-century.

We are compiling the journal notes now, and will be sending out next week a detailed summary of the ups and downs, victories and challenges the team faced hour by hour. You will be able to see how your prayers specifically worked!  The fact that the Ancient of Days chooses to use His Children to impact each other through prayer and action should move us to constant support of one another.
