It's 3:00am, and I leave to go home to Illinois in 3 hours. So I figured I'd just stay up and knock out the latest FIREWATCH.
I've got three big updates, so let's jump right into them!

ISRAEL TEAM Update
 I should have learned by now, but I didn't; so God decided to remind me again: mission trips are God's Playground!
He has His Hands tightly around this group and this adventure (they leave in about eight weeks!)
The team of thirteen was recently able to add one more member, who really wanted to join them in their work with Shalva (the organization in Jerusalem that works with special needs children). I've sensed the buzz in the group.
Financially, back at the beginning of August, they were in trouble, at least from an earthly perspective. But God, as He is wont to do, brought in a BUNCH of donations and support the past three weeks, and now the team can see the light at the end of the tunnel. (And as my good friend Kristie likes to point out, it's not a train light.) And if you would like to be a part of the final push to reach their goals, then send them a donation!
The spiritual warfare is still fairly intense, with individual team members struggling emotionally, physically and socially. Again, this is to be expected. When we get on God's Radar, we get on Satan's too. So please be praying for these servants of Christ as they obey His Calling! Send out spears of prayer, lock shields and stand with them. Apply Ephesians 6:10-20 in a very real way.
Team, I applaud you and am proud to back you on this trip!

The Flock Keeps Getting Bigger!
So we hit a couple of key milestones in the past two weeks:
We reached 300+ fans on Facebook-Rekindling!
We reached 200+ subscribers to FIREWATCH!
We reached $50,000+ in donations to the ministry!
(This is compared to $19,000 for all of 2008. The USA is in the middle of economic troubles and the year is only 2/3 of the way through, and we've already increased by 150%!! Only the Ancient of Days can get credit for this!)
Thank you everyone for believing in what Rekindling is trying to do and for spreading the word.
KEEP BELIEVING and KEEP SPREADING THE FIRE!

TWO RECENT RE-SHAPING MESSAGES
 Last week, I had the fortune to teach two different lessons that shape how we as Christians view the world and in turn are viewed by the world.
I taught an Apologetics course, that lists out the evidences in nature and science that point towards a Creator God, such as how life is mathematically impossible and how the universe is built on design and structure rather than randomness and chaos. We also looked at the myriad of evidences within and surrounding the Bible that show it could not have been randomly written by humans. There is a supernatural authorship to this Book!
The video of the workshop is up on-line now at our blog. I recommend you take the time to watch the video (please bear with the quality; it's a work in progress) and/or read the 17-page hand-out that comes with it. Let it re-shape your confidence in why you believe in God, His Son and Their Bible. Obey 1 Peter 3:15. (To receive the handout, simply email me.)
On Sunday, I spoke at Harvest Chinese Christian Church about the Biblical expectations for parents and children. While some of you may not have children of your own yet, the lessons here can be applied to boss-employee, church leadership-church congregation and other such relationships. So I encourage you to check out the video on the blog, and let it re-shape your opinion and perspective about God's thoughts on heirarchy, authority and submission. |
