From my new friend, Chung Woo:

"Farah and I would like to invite you to join us in Jerusalem this summer.  There is an extraordinary opportunity to share the gospel with Muslims in the Holy Land.  It is called Back to Jerusalem Project, from July 7th to July 17th, 2009.  The Project will start with a conference/training for three days with Josh McDowell, followed by outreach in Jerusalem.  Next, the participants are divided into teams for several more days of outreach to other parts of Israel and to the West Bank.  Interspersed are tourism and a finale with celebration and prayer on the Mount of Olives.

The registration fee for the conference includes a 4 star hotel, meals, tourism, local transportation (for outreach), transfer to and from the airport at Tel Aviv, and is made through the website, www.btj2009.net.  Additional cost is travel to Tel Aviv.

Farah and I would love to talk with and pray with anyone interested in coming with us on this important mission.

marhaba & shalom everyone!

I hope you like the new look! We're getting fancy, aren't we? ; )  In an effort to continue rekindling people's passions, interest and curiosity in God, others and self, we've signed on with Constant Contact to add some pizazz to the FIREWATCH newsletter.

So let's jump into this week's announcements...

Word-of-mouth is the new word-of-mouth.

One of my goals this year is to get the FIREWATCH list up to 600 people.  We currently have 116. So if everyone forwards this on to 5 friends, we are in like cake batter.

And don't worry, we have the 'subscribe/confirm' button at the top and the 'unscribe' button at the bottom, so it's super easy for everyone to choose to join us or not. No pressure; we just want to have some fun encouraging people and getting them intrigued with God and His Holy Scriptures!

So pass the word on!!!  pretty please, with sugar on top, as well as that chocolate shilac stuff that hardens when you pour it on.  It makes it so much better.

$30/month will get Rekindling treading water...

We are on a fundraising kick this month, and we are looking at getting another 23 people to commit to giving $30/month.  This increase in monthly funds will get Rekindling's head above water as we manage our administrative/program costs.

And we have made it easier to contribute monthly by setting up an automated withdrawal system through your credit card or bank card. You can make a donation via our website or by mailing a check to:

All I ask is that you seek the Big Man Upstairs' opinion on this. If He wants you to pass, please do so. If He wants you to commit to $30/month (or more), then let me know!  shannon@rekindlingministries.com

Look out Holy Land, the Western Church is coming!
Jerusalem from the Mt of OlivesI have two great updates for you:

1- Heather Coleman's Expedition to Israel is coming along nicely! She has put together her team and began meetings/ preparation for the November trip. Funds have started coming in and Rekindling is excited to help in the administration of the trip! If you would like to support their adventure (they are ministering to special-needs children in the Holy City of Jerusalem), go to the Rekindling Support page and donate (put 'Israel Expedition' in the memo line).

2- I had the wonderful opportunity to have dinner this past Monday night with a Korean/Iranian couple who have a heart for Israel and the entire Middle East.  They are headed to Israel and the West Bank this July for the Back to Jerusalem conference, and are looking for a group of people to come with them!  I will let Chung put it into his own words,

I realize this is only about six weeks away, but there is still time to get registered and go.  I actually had the chance to spend some time with the creators of this conference two years ago in Nazareth, and they are beautiful, God-fearing people. Last year was the first year of the conference and it had a huge impact on the Holy Land for Christ! This year should bring about even more spiritual change!

My friends, most of you know that I have a passion for the Middle East, from Israel and the Palestinian Territories to Syria to Kurdistan and Iran. And so it excites me to no end to be able to support Heather, Chung and Farah.  And many of you know Cindy Shiblie, a dear friend of mine, who is prayerfully considering starting a non-profit organization that will minister to Palestinians.

I see something happening here, and it thrills me.  The Western Church needs to interact more with the Central Church (as well as the Far East Church).  And we know there are no coincidences in God's Kingdom. So when Cindy, Heather, Chung, Farah and myself (and the Rekindling ministry) all cross paths to share in a similar passion (thank you Edward Hunt and Amy Knapp for many of these introductions!), it means something is going to happen.

Please ask your Lord and Savior if He wants you to attend or support these trips in July and November to the Holy Land, and keep your eyes open for a very cool trip possibly happening next year...

Wrap-Up
and that's it for this update!  I know it's a lot of stuff, I hope this email is not too 'busy' or 'crowded'.

As always, you know that I love each of you SO much! I pray God is rekindling a passion, a curiosity, an intrigue in you, for the Kingdom!  Find your place in it and serve!

sincerely His and yours,
