| As the 2009-2010 Pennsylvania state budget still remains in limbo at 62 days past due, we are all feeling the consequences of this legislative standstill. While Republicans insist upon a higher reducation in spending--including cutting over a billion dollars for state funded education--Governor Rendell and his fellow Democarats claim that the cuts they have made are already substantial enough and can be supplemented by additional taxes. As a result of this indecision, $1.3 Billion that is paid to Pennsylvania School Districts has been delayed and state-wide educational programs are suffering from the loss. Programs are going unfunded, employees are not getting paid, family resource centers--which provide child care for working families--are closing their doors and these are just a few of the results of the budget impasse.
