Praying At The Cross
Let us pray this week for strength in our marriage relationships in the church. When the enemy drives a wedge between a husband and wife, he strikes a blow against the church. Pray that our couples would seek God first in their relationships and pursue the highest and best interest for their spouses.

Take a minute and pray right now...

Message Series
Join us this week for a message from Paul Halley titled "Forgiven...forgiving...are you really?"

We will be spending time studying Romans, chapter 8, and Matthew, chapter 18.

See you Sunday!

"Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him." - John 14:21 NIV

I've heard a lot of people say they love the Lord. I'm sure they are sincere when they say it, but I can't help wondering what they mean by it. I don't even know if they know what they mean when they say it. It's one of those trite Christian statements that we haphazardly toss out on occasion when it seems like the right thing to say.

But Jesus knew very well what He was talking about when He spoke these words to his disciples. Love is shown through our obedience to the Father. Christ showed his love for us by being obedient to the will of the Father, even obedient unto death on the cross (Philippians 2:8). And here He shows us that we prove our love for Him and the Father in the same way - obedience.

If you say "I love the Lord," be prepared to prove it! Don't just say it - obey it!
Children's Ministry
A little Bible trivia: What do all of these have in common?
  • The boy who shared his lunch (John 6:5-14)
  • The widow who gave all her money (Mark 12:41-43)
  • Lydia's hospitality to Paula and others (Acts 16:6, 13-15)
  • The Good Samaritan (Luke 10:30-37)
While we could possibly accept several answers, the one we are looking for is: Service. Each individual from the events listed above, provided a service in one way or another.

Last month we talked about being responsible. Responsibility is an extremely important virtue, but service means taking it one step further and going the extra mile by doing things that we may not even be responsible for.

Bring your children out on Sundays so they can dive in the Bible with us and hear what our Lord has to say about service.

Upcoming children's ministry events:
  • August 29th- Back to school event for kiddos
  • November 21st- Thanksgiving Play
  • December 19th- Christmas Play
Donations needed:
Gently used toys for the nursery

Summer is a time of mixed blessings for me. I get to spend more time with my wife and kids because school is out, but in Arizona it gets really hot (it's supposed to hit 116 degrees this week!), so we're limited on what we can do together.

Vacations and summer heat can take their toll on church attendance as well. I simply encourage you with a word from our Lord: "Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another-and all the more as you see the Day approaching." Hebrews 10:25

We all need the encouragement and support of our fellow believers. Come and chill out with us this week!

In Christ,

"Pastor" Jamie
