Future Quest Worship
Pastor Pat and Melissa are currently taking their first vacation in the six years since they planted this church. Let's lift them up to the Lord and pray that they actually get the opportunity to rest and recover and return to us refreshed and renewed.

Take a minute and pray right now...
This Coming Sunday...

Message Series
So when your pastor takes off on vacation, what happens to the church? Are we still supposed to show up on Sunday? Who's going to give the message? More importantly, who's going to play bass for the worship team?

To get the answers to these questions and more, you're just going to have to come on Sunday and find out! Actually, I'll tell you some of it now. I (Jamie) will be giving a message titled "Why Are We Doing This?" this Sunday, along with some special music ('cause my singing is better than my public speaking).

So yes, you're still supposed to show up. (I actually saw a sign in front of a church once that said "Church will resume in one week  - pastor on vacation.") As for who will play bass, I'm still figuring that out...

See you Sunday!
A Word of Encouragement

How are you worshiping God right now? Yes, I mean at this very moment. What are you doing? For many, this is an unusual question because we tend to think of worship as something we do when we set aside a special time to devote ourselves to singing worship songs, praying, and a doing a few other godly things. Usually this happens once a week - at church.

But our common use of the word "worship" is too limited. We need to expand our thinking about worship and understand that singing worship songs, praying, reading and studying God's Word, and sharing time in fellowship with other believers are all just forms of worship. But there are many other ways to worship God as well. Whenever we affirm God's authority in our lives, acknowledge His existence, or proclaim His sovereignty over our world, we are worshiping Him. That means that our good deeds, proper motivations, pure thoughts, and humble acts of service are all forms of worshiping God.

Looking at worship in this light leads to an attitude that we can continually worship God - wherever we are and whatever we are doing. So, how are you worshiping God right now?
Children's Ministry

Signing Off

With our fearless(?) leader braving the beaches of San Diego, we may be left to wonder if things will be any different in his absence - not to mention Melissa's. After all, they both do so much for the church - much of which we are unaware. The answer is both yes and no. We will certainly miss them these few short weeks and we will have to adapt. But the ministry that they head is bigger than the two of them; it's bigger than any of us. And it will continue on regardless of who's "running the ship." That's because ultimately it's God who's the Captain and we're all deck hands on His ship.

If there is one lesson I learned from our Future Quest event it's that this church family can really pull together to accomplish things that are much greater any of us could ever expect. So let's keep it going - now more than ever.

Pat and Melissa, enjoy your vacation. We're in good hands here.

In Christ,

"Pastor" Jamie
