Trust
Foothills Christian Church, our home church, is ALSO having a Future Quest June 24 - 26. They are much larger than we are and expect about 2200 kids. Let's pray that God will do incredible things in the lives of kids and that Foothills will experience all the material blessings they need to get Future Quest off the ground and successful. Take a minute and pray right now...
This Coming Sunday, June 20, 2010

God expects the seeds He plants in our lives to grow. You don't hide a lamp and we shouldn't hide what God is doing in our lives either. We also need to understand that God's word is expected to grow - but we have to be patient and trust in the Lord who causes it to grow. Still, God wouldn't take the time to explain these things to us if there wasn't something we could gain by understanding it. Come on out this Sunday as we explore Mark 4: 21 - 34 with a message called "LampSeed"...See ya Sunday.

Coming up....

June 27: Mark 4: 35 - 41 "Who is this?"

July 4: Mark 5: 1 - 20 "Preferring pigs"
A Word of Encouragement

Hebrews 10:25 (NLT)
And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage and warn each other, especially now that the day of his coming back again is drawing near.

Church, small group home gatherings, retreats and special events - these are NOT supposed to be "we're better than you" club events or charity meetings because if this is so, we may as well join the Elk's club. Instead, God wants us to cheer each other on, offer friendship and caring while we teach and learn together about what it takes to follow Jesus. We should do this, keeping the inevitable end forever in our minds: Everyone will face God and must answer for their life. God is not pleased with a life dedicated to self-interest but is pleased with a life dedicated to His interests. It's too easy to get wrapped up in our own self-centeredness so that we miss God's interests. Gathering together keeps us sharp. In our culture, Sunday morning is for sleeping in and evenings are for recreation so it is tempting to give up gathering with other Christians. The truth is there is no easy solution to knowing God and growing in Him - it takes continual decisions to live obediently. God has provided relationships with other Christians as a key support for these decisions. Let's not neglect to gather together each and every week possible.

Signing Off

We have no idea how many kids are going to come to Future Quest but if even one young person is blessed by it than all our efforts are worth it. We've seen God open up some incredible opportunities for us and while we still face challenges to get this event off the ground, we expect God to continue to work in the miraculous ways we've seen so far. Please keep us in prayer as we make our last minute preparations.
