Praying At The Cross
God doesn't expect us all to be exactly the same. We like a little rock and roll but the folks over at First Country Baptist Church like to praise the Lord with bluegrass and country music. Pray for Pastor Coy Wilkerson and the entire leadership team at Country Baptist that God will empower their ministry here in the city of Surprise. Take a minute and pray right now...

Vision
We believe in outreach. We can't expect people who need the Lord to come find us - we need to go to them. On April 3rd our famous FourteenSix worship band is going to do a concert outreach at the Surprise Park (next to the lake). Our men's, women's and youth groups will be involved in cooking tons of hot dogs and giving them out for free to any and all who want one. Christian rock, hot dogs, smiles and opportunities to share Jesus and invite people to church - who could ask for more? If you want to get involved, be a part of our volunteer team or donate a bunch of hot dogs - contact Loway Shammas this coming Sunday or email us at the church office (info@fourteensix.com) and we'll pass your information along to Loway.

fork in the road

There comes a time when we have to choose between what is right and whatever it is we want. There comes a time when the evidence of God in our lives is so obvious it is cataclysmic. Even more telling, there comes a time when what we thought about ourselves comes into direct confrontation with what God is doing around us. What will we do in that time? What should we do? Come on out this weekend as we explore Mark Chapter 1: 40 - 45 with a message called "Indignant". See ya Sunday.

A Word of Encouragement

2 Timothy 2: 13 (NKJV)
If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.

God is true to His own character no matter what we think at any given time about Him. We can certainly read this verse and say "amen - all those faithless unbelievers don't get it!" But this verse doesn't have to be about "other" people. It can be about me too. There have been times in my life when the burden of everything was so overwhelming I thought I couldn't keep on. But even if I lose faith in myself, God never loses faith in Himself - He has no fear that He won't have the
strength to help me. God never doubts that His word can give me the hope I need. God is never concerned that He'll miss some detail in my life that could have made all the difference in our relationship. I worry about these things - but He never does. If my relationship with God is based on me and my faithfulness, then there is something to worry about in life. But our relationship, thankfully, is based on His character - and He never fails. Even if I feel like I cannot carry on, I can know that He never tires, He never loses sight of what is important and He swore by Himself that if I turned to Him He would never leave me or forsake me.

Thank You

Jesus told us not to let our hearts be troubled. We can let our hearts be troubled or we can tell our hearts "settle down." He goes on to say the reason we shouldn't let our hearts be troubled - because He is going to prepare a place for us. Someday He will bring us there. Knowing this, we can quiet our hearts through any trial. It's all temporary, my friends. It doesn't seem that way in the midst of the pain but we can comfort each other and remind each other of His love by loving each other in turn. Recently, some of the church family brought my family some meals because Melissa was sick. We could have managed but this kind of love speaks to us about His love - and it helps us to tell our hearts "settle down". Don't underestimate how much your acts of kindness can really soothe. Keep loving each other my friends, it is the gift of God.
