Prayer Corner
Pray for Financial Peace University. The majority of participants in this class do NOT attend FourteenSix so we have an opportunity to witness, however, I admit not having put this group together with the sort of professionalism that would make a good witness. Fortunately, we have moved the group to a comfortable, private home to solve this problem. But let's pray that we can use this class to be a witness for the Lord. Take a minute and pray right now... |

Vision
"If you're faithful in a little, you'll be faithful also in much". JR Lanway and a group of guys from the Men's ministry plan to meet this Saturday, after men's breakfast, to inventory, organize and clean our storage facility so we can be more faithful with the material things God has provided. This will help us better manage what people donate. |

This Coming Sunday, March 14, 2010
We are commanded by the Lord to "Go and make disciples". Disciples are people who imitate their master. To imitate Jesus is to learn to do what He did - it's all about going beyond the intellectual into the day-to-day real. Jesus Himself told us what His purpose was and if we are to imitate our master then our purpose needs to be the same as His. Come on out this weekend as we explore Mark Chapter 1: 29 - 45 with a message called "Serve". See ya Sunday. |

A Word of Encouragement
Exodus 29: 20 (NKJV) Then you shall kill the ram, and take some of its blood and put it on the tip of the right ear of Aaron and on the tip of the right ear of his sons, on the thumb of their right hand and on the big toe of their right foot, and sprinkle the blood all around on the altar.
The priests were to put their hands on the sacrificial animal as a symbol of passing the guilt of their sin onto an innocent substitute. Since the penalty of sin is death, the life-blood of the animal is poured out instead of the life-blood of a guilty person. In other words, the sacrificial animal dies in place of the person. But we see here that the sacrifice of a substitute does more than just pay the penalty for a crime - it also "consecrates" the one the sacrifice represents. Consecration means "to set apart". In this passage the priest was to anoint the ear, thumb and big toe of the person with the sacrificial blood. Why? The idea is that the priests ears are not "set apart" so they can hear the voice of God. The priests right hand (a symbol of his strength and ability to work in service) is consecrated to do the service of God and his right foot (a symbol of his lifestyle, how a person "walks" in life) is set-apart so that his lifestyle is step-by-step behind the example of God. This is a picture of the perfect sacrifice of Jesus on the cross for you and me. He is the ultimate sacrifice because an imperfect animal can never wholly cover our sins. The sacrifice of Jesus, however, can completely cover us - and His sacrifice should also "set me apart". I also need to be aware that my ears should be tuned to hear His voice. The work of my hands should be dedicated first and foremost to His service. My life-style should be set apart in the ways of my king. The sacrifice of Jesus on the cross is not just to cover us from sin but to consecrate us, 100% - from head to foot, to serving our Lord and King in all that we do and say. |
Thank You
Tom and Athena Bonner graciously offered their house to host Financial Peace University. They provide a hospitable, comfortable home for us so often for meetings and small groups. We are so grateful to everyone who opens their home for various events and especially grateful to the Bonner's helping with Financial Peace. Thanks Bonner folks - you're awesome. |
