Prayer sunset
Jr and Amy Lanway are expecting a baby boy to arrive in April. Doctors say the baby will be born with a cleft palate. We believe God can heal and we're asking God to heal this baby today, before he is even born. Take a minute and pray right now....
Mark it on your calenders

Future Quest Worship
Future Quest is coming! Please take a moment and mark June 28 and 29 on your calendars. It's important or we wouldn't ask you to mark it down so soon. In the near future we're going to provide you with email messages, links and other means of getting the word out to everyone - facebook, MySpace and so on - so we're asking you to mark this important date on your calendars and begin praying for this event right away.
This Coming Sunday, February 28, 2010

Mountain What do you think of when you face a tough situation in life? Do you think it must be because of some impossibly stupid thing you must have done? What if you can't really put your finger on why you're in a down time or, worse, you just experienced a huge victory in your Christian walk and suddenly find yourself "on the dry side"? How can you expect to find a solution when you're just trying to keep your discouragement from drowning you? Find out what it means to be "empowered" as we study Mark 1: 12- 20 with a message called "Empowered". See ya Sunday.

Coming up....

  • March 7: Mark 1: 20 - 28.

  • "Map to the Future" A new, 6-week series about Biblical end-times prophecy begins April 11th. Tell a friend.
A Word of Encouragement

Psalm 33:3 (KJV)
Sing unto him a new song; play skillfully with a loud noise.

Cheering Crowd
Some years ago, a friend of mine who visited my church was completely mystified by the music. My friend's experience of church music was more along the lines of boring, the leader was more of a performer that the "audience" politely listened too and the entire concept of music in the church was just tradition - it had no relevance.

But my friend also found an energy at my church that couldn't be defined, an excitement that seemed to resonate as much as the amplifiers, joy in the faces of the people and a definite sense of celebration. And why not? Our experience of excitement that God has rescued us from a pointless life and offered us eternal validation and meaning is something to get excited about. We cheer for a football team that may win today and lose tomorrow - how much more should we cheer for our God, who holds all of eternity in the palm of His hand? The truth is we need to sing louder about our hope in God and our love for Him than any rock band on any stage and shout with as much joy as any Super Bowl crowd whenever we get the chance.

In the past I had some struggles with depression. I found out that being grateful and worshipping God drove those feelings away. Getting in the habit of gratitude isn't just a platitude [no pun intended :)]. Gratitude, saying "thank you", singing about how cool God is, getting fired up with some rocking worship tunes on a Sunday morning, putting you hands up in the air unashamed and unafraid - that drives feelings of depression away like the sun burns away the fog. Make a joyful noise.
