This Coming Sunday, January 24, 2010
There are aliens on earth.
They speak a different language, see the world through different eyes,
experience emotions in a different way and while they often speak with similar
words they can often have different meanings. These aliens are the opposite
gender - as a man, I can tell you, women just don't see the world the way men
do. Learning to decode the language of the opposite gender and learning to
understand our God designed roles for relationship is critical to seeing our
marriages, friendships and sibling relationships flourish. Fortunately, the
creator of men and women gave us the tools we need to get along. Come on out
this weekend to hear a message called "On the Edge of connection: God's wisdom
for a fantastic marriage." See ya Sunday.
Coming up....
- January 31st: On
the Edge of Peace: God's revolutionary wisdom for financial peace.
- February 7: To the angel at
the Church of Surprise, write.... Part 6, Philadelphia.

A Word of Encouragement
Galatians 6:7 (NiV)
Do not be deceived: God cannot be
mocked. A man reaps what he sows.
There is a simple but
powerful principle here that has been twisted by greedy men in expensive suits.
They pretend that giving more than you can when you're broke, by faith, will
lead to wealth. This verse teaches no such thing. In fact, if we reap (that
means collect or harvest) what we sow (that means plant) then what can we
expect if we give to a ministry with a greedy intent in our hearts? What would
seeds of greed produce? Might be ugly! Rather, "Each man should give what he
has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God
loves a cheerful giver." (2 Corinthians 9:7)
Instead, this is a concept
we can clearly see in the backyard garden - the seeds I plant are the seeds
that grow. I cannot plant corn seeds and expect to get watermelons. Corn seeds
produce corn plants. What you plant is what will grow.
This principle can be
applied to every aspect of life. If I plant laziness and procrastination I'll
harvest debt and things will fall apart around me. If I plant discipline and
careful planning I'll reap good rewards in time. Let's take great care to plant
the right kind of seeds into our daily walk because there is one thing more we
need to remember - growth takes TIME. Sometimes you just don't see the results
right away but God is not mocked, what you sow, you will reap.

Thank You

Thank you Betty Waltman for
joining us a volunteer in the office doing data entry. As a church family we
are consistently in need of volunteers and it's so wonderful to have Betty come
aboard. Thanks Betty.

Vision
Part of our vision for
discipleship is calling our people to get out of their comfort zones into practical
service. When we sacrifice for the practical needs of others it allows God to
do some real work in our progression away from self-obsession. To this end,
FourteenSix has done servant evangelisms in the past and is now committed to
developing these once per month - but that's not all. We are announcing as of
now a trip to Mexico,
Veteran's day weekend in November of this year, to build a house for the poor
in cooperation with Amor ministries. Stay tuned for more details.
