Prayer Corner
People
who come to FourteenSix report a powerful sense of God in our
service. They are often moved to make changes in their life or find
encouragement and hope. This is the anointing of God, His Spirit
moving and this is what we so greatly desire to experience every
Sunday. But we don't create this, we don't "generate it", we
must humbly ask for His Spirit. Let's pray that God will continue
to pour out His anointing on our congregation for this coming Sunday.
Take a minute and pray right now....

This Coming Sunday, November 22, 2009

We say
that the "church" is composed of all those who follow Jesus, not
just one particular gathering. So, if we are the church, what kind of
church are we? As we gather at FourteenSix, what kind of gathering
should we be building in His name? If Jesus were to address us as He
did the 7 churches in Revelation 2 and 3, what kind of report card
would we get? We need to understand what things Jesus said were good
about these churches and what things they needed to change so that
we, as His church in Surprise, can be the light for this city that He
designed us to be. Come on out this Sunday as we study Revelation
chapter 2 with a message titled (part 1) "To the Angel of the
Church in Surprise write...." See
ya Sunday.
Coming up.... - November 29 - Revelation 3 - "To the angel of the Church of Surprise write..."
- December 6 -
John 4: 34 - 38 - "Harvest"

A Word of Encouragement

Genesis 42: 36 (NKJV) And Jacob their father said to them, "You have bereaved me: Joseph is no more, Simeon is no more, and you want to take Benjamin. All these things are against me."
There was a famine in the land of Canaan and Jacob's sons had gone to Israel to buy food. Jacob thought his son Joseph was dead when, in fact, his other sons had sold Joseph as a slave into Egypt and lied to Jacob saying that he had died. From Jacob's perspective, everything was falling apart. The ruler of Egypt had taken his son Simeon as a hostage and was demanding Benjamin as well. The situation looked bleak.
But we know that the ruler of Egypt was none other than Joseph, Jacob's lost son. Joseph was testing his brothers to see if they would sell out Simeon or Benjamin to save their own skins. When they passed the test in Genesis chapter 45, Joseph revealed himself as their brother and sent for his father Jacob. Everything that Jacob thought was conspiring against him was actually lining up to save the lives of Jacob's entire family. God had a plan and even though Jacob could not see it, his adversity was actually part of the solution to his problem.
This is also true in our lives. If we serve God, in the end, things will work out because God promises..."And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose." (Romans 8:28). We just have to hang in there, continue to be thankful and trust God that He will work things out - just like things worked out for Jacob.

WorshipVibes
by Jamie Brees
Ups and downs. Highs and lows. Ins and outs. Humans are inconsistent by nature. But God is faithful through it all. Some days we feel as close to Jesus as John the Beloved. Other days we feel like Judas or King Saul - acting the part but far away in our hearts. Fortunately, God is not like us; He is not directed by His feelings, He is directed by His character.
An important part of worship is recognizing and acknowledging God's consistent, faithful character. We should continually be praising Him for His unchanging nature. One way we can do this is to declare His own Word and apply it to our lives. When our feelings start to take control, we can go to God's Word and seek out the truth of our condition. Do I feel worthless? God sent His only son because He loves me (John 3:16). Do I feel like I can never change? God promises to complete the work He began in me (Philippians 1:6).
God's Word is powerful. Use it to praise Him. --------------------------------- You can read more at the WorshipVibes blog. Feel free to leave your comments and to suggest further topics.

Thank You

Thank
you Tom Bonner for fixing the church trailer last weekend. The
plastic vent cover on top of the trailer disintegrated after years of
being in the sun and crumbled away this last weekend. This exposed
our delicate equipment to possible rain (for those of us in Arizona
who have not seen this natural phenomena in a long time - rain is
water that comes from the sky :) )
so Tom took it upon himself to repair the opening so our things are
protected. Thanks Tom.

Vision
A large
part of our vision is to see followers of Jesus mobilized into
action. An example is our women's ministry which is now organizing
volunteers to help at a battered women's center. This sort of
involvement is what tells the world that followers of Jesus care
about real needs. This is the sort of thing our small groups organize
and you can be part of it.
We're
trying to get the word out about FourteenSix and I need your help.
Will you set aside just $37.50 each week for 4 weeks, put it in an
envelope marked "invitations" and put it in the offering basket?
If I can find 40 people to do this, we will raise most of the money
we need to send out our next set of 30,000 invitations to our church. Email me today at pat@fourteensix.com
and let me know I can count on you for the next 4 Sundays.
