Prayer Corner
Please pray for Ella Brees and Ethan French - both new additions to the FourteenSix family were born within the last 2 weeks. Pray that the Brees family and the French family will be blessed by God with wisdom in the raising of these children. Please pray for the health and favor of God to rest on the babies and that God will bring joy and rest to their parents (especially Moms Jennifer Brees and Lexy French J) Take a minute and pray right now....
This Coming Sunday, November 15, 2009

Each person is significant in the Kingdom of God - Jesus died for each of us as individuals and He has a ministry for each of us individually as well. But we need to "take heed to the ministry that you have received in the Lord, that you may fulfill it." What does it mean to "take heed" and how do I fulfill the ministry God has for me? It's easy to think we are insignificant because we're not full time ministers or that because we don't influence too many people we have nothing to offer - but God has something for every follower of Jesus to do that is significant in His kingdom. We're finishing up the book of Colossians with a message called "Fulfill your destiny" this coming Sunday, November 15 and you won't want to miss it. See ya Sunday.

Coming up....

  • November 29Revelation 3 - "To the angel of the Church of Surprise write..."

A Word of Encouragement
Space
Psalm 19:1 (NKJV)
The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork. Day unto day utters speech, And night unto night reveals knowledge.

There are some 8 octillion stars. That would be enough for every living person to own about 3 trillion. Up until the invention of the telescope, most people believed there were only about 3,000 stars because that was all you could see with unaided eye. But God revealed the truth to His prophets long before "science". God said, "in blessing I will bless you, and in multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore...." (Gen 22:17 NKJV)

The fine-tuning of the balance between gravity and expansion in the universe is precisely perfect for life to exist on this planet, estimatedto be one partinat least a hundred million billion billion billion billion billion. That would be a ten followed by fifty-three zeros. That's inconceivably precise. Everywhere we look, as far as we can see, there is breathtaking beauty and precision. Just the fine-tuning of the universe alone should be enough to confirm that only God, who is greater than time, space and matter, could have engineered it. And if He engineered something as vast and stunning as the rainbow of galaxies that spin around us, surely He knows how to steer me through life. This is why the same passage I quoted for this devotion also says "The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple". Lest we forget how precise our God is, go out into your yard tonight and just look up....

Album Review
Chris Rice, Peace Like a River: The Hymns Project

This album is a must-have if you enjoy listening to classic hymns to augment your private worship time. The combination of Rice's pure, clear, and honest voice with simple (yet creative) keyboard and guitar accompaniments makes for pleasant and inspiring listening whether you're taking time to focus on the Lord or just listening to some good Christian music while you work.

The ten songs on the album, ranging from "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing" to "Great Is Thy Faithfullness," are sure to satisfy hymn fans of all ages.

Thank You

Thank You

Thank you to everyone who helped make our first Sunday at Kingswood a raging success. Thank you to the set-up crew who make record time finding out where the electrical outlets were. Thank you to the children's ministry team for quickly figuring out how to set things up. Thank you to our break-down crew for setting a church record on getting us loaded up. Thank you BBQ team for putting together a wonderful church potluck where many of us enjoyed conversation and hot dogs (with mustard, ymmmm) as well as watching our kids play themselves into exhaustion on the playground after church. A wonderful new building "soft opening" and we are so blessed to be family. Thanks everybody - it's awesome to be connected with all of you.
Vision

I know all of you want to get the word out about FourteenSix. For our January outreach of 30,000 mailer invitations, I am asking everyone to be at church on January 10th to welcome new people.

I need your help. Will you set aside just $37.50 each week for 4 weeks, put it in an envelope marked "invitations" and put it in the offering basket? If I can find 40 people to do this, we will raise most of the money we need. I'm sure you will help. Email me today at pat@fourteensix.com and let me know I can count on you for the next 4 Sundays.

Signing Off

Our next outreach is so exciting - think of it...if our last 20,000-piece mailer outreach brought 88 new people to visit us, think how many we can expect to see with 30,000 invitations! If you've seen some benefit from being part of FourteenSix, will you help us help others experience the same benefit? I know times are lean financially and I don't want to burden you, make you feel guilty or, worst of all, annoy you with another pitch for financial help. But the truth is, the church can't do this without financial help above and beyond your regular budget. You can partner with me in reaching the city of Surprise (and the world) with the message of Jesus. I'm not going to promise you that your giving is going to make you rich, famous and cute beyond all description just because you gave to this ministry - but I will promise, because God promised, that He does not forget those who support His work and those whom God does not forget, He favors - in one fashion or another. Will you be one of the 40 people I need to find who can set aside $37.50 each Sunday for 4 Sunday's in order for us to reach our goal?

Pray about it.

"Over and out"...
