Prayer Corner
Please pray for our
Leadership Team. We've accepted the opportunity to move our Sunday service into
a larger facility beginning in November. This acceleration of our moving plans
is obviously part of God's plan and it's exciting to think we will already be
in a new facility by the time the mailer goes out (scheduled in January). Our
challenge now is to re-organize our set-up and break down procedures for our Adult and Kids Services, our
budget and our logistics (the trailer) in fairly short order. Take a minute and
pray right now....

This Coming Sunday, October 4, 2009

The
family is the most important institution in the human experience yet we see all
around us a breakdown in family values. Our job as followers of Jesus is not to
try and force our culture to legislate family values back into our society but
instead, we are to exist as an example so brilliant and attractive that our
culture longs to have families like ours. As we study Colossians we find some
powerful little verses to help us do this in Colossians 3:18-21. I've called
this message "Family Portrait" and I'm confident you'll like what you see. Looking forward to seeing
you Sunday....
Coming up....
- October 11 - Colossians 3:22 - 4:1 "Employee of the Month"
- October 18 - Special Speaker - Our Pastor from our Parent Church, Dave Hoffman

A Word of Encouragement

"...come, take up the cross, and follow me." Mark 10:21b (NKJV)
The rich young ruler was attracted to Jesus. He
longed for godliness, for purity, for holiness and when he looked at Jesus he
saw all these things. But what happened when Jesus looked back at the rich
young ruler? "Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him and said to him, 'One thing
you lack: go your way, sell whatever you have, and give to the poor...." God does
not want to be number one on my list of 10 important things in my life,
instead, God wants to be number one on a list of one. When Jesus looks at me He
will identify anything that may come between me and making God absolutely the
end all of end alls in my life. Anything in my life that threatens to undermine
my relationship with God I need to be willing to release. In the rich young
ruler's case, giving up his attachment to wealth would have been like "carrying
a cross" and he was unwilling to make such a sacrifice. God promises, in vs.
29, "there is no one that has left house or brothers or sisters....for My sake and
the gospel's who shall not receive a hundredfold now in this time...and in the
age to come, eternal life." Be willing to put God number one on your list of
the one thing most important in your life.

Operation New Neighbor
We're experimenting with our
letters by toying with coupons, letter look and feel and even considering the
idea of letting go of the non-profit stamp so we don't have to put
"FourteenSix, Inc." in the return address zone. We just sent out 600 letters.
Right now we're going to wait on the next mailing to see what is happening with
the church move. In the meantime, we're in need of more volunteers to hand
address envelopes and for donations of supplies.
If you would like to
help with this ministry, please contact me at: Tim@fourteensix.com
Thanks, Tim Juillet |
Operation Mailer
We are brainstorming now
about specific events and incentives to add to the mailer campaign. For
example, last January's mailer had a primary event of jumpers and hot dogs and
a secondary event to cap the series with the marriage seminar. We're working to
organize these things now and we'll let you know how they come about.
If you
can help, please use our PayPal account (see below) or contact the church office

Vision
We've envisioned moving out
of the temporary leasing of a school into a long-term facility for some time
now. We're moving now into a larger school facility, Kingswood Elementary, and we see this move as a
stepping stone into a long term facility. Our strategy begins with fundraising
toward the cost of first, last, and deposit needs and building Sunday morning
attendance with a January mailer. At this time we're considering at least 3
locations in Surprise for our long term, 24/7 facility and just as soon as we
feel the Lord's lead and the practical resources are in place we will move
forward. In the meantime, our days in a school cafeteria are temporary and
numbered.
