Prayer Corner
We're about to launch our next outreach sending
hand addressed invitation letters to every new "change of address" in Surprise.
The Bible says, "How can they know unless someone tells them?" so this outreach
is a means of inviting new people to our church to hear about Him. Pray that
God pours out His favor on this outreach and people will come to hear His
truth....take a moment and pray right now....

This Coming Sunday, July 5, 2009
God is NOT an idea, a far-away power that
created the universe and then left town nor is He just a higher power, like a
genie in a lamp, that comes to give us wishes whenever we call. Understanding a
little more about the infinite greatness of God can help us better understand what
we ought to expect from ourselves in terms of how we relate to Him. Come on out and learn more as we study Colossians 1: 15 - 18 with a message called "By Him and For Him".
See ya Sunday....
Coming up....
-
July 12 - Colossians 1: 19 - 23 Continue
-
July 19 - Colossians 1: 24 - 29 Hope of
Glory

A Word of Encouragement
Hebrews 10:25 (NLT)
And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some
people do, but encourage and warn each other, especially now that the day of
his coming back again is drawing near.
Church, small group home gatherings,
retreats and special events - these are NOT supposed to be "we're better than
you" club events or charity meetings because if this is so we may as well join
the Elk's club. Instead, God wants us to cheer each other on, offer friendship
and caring while we teach and learn together about what it takes to follow
Jesus. We should do this, keeping the inevitable end forever in our minds:
Everyone will face God and must answer for their life.
God is not pleased with
a life dedicated to self-interest but is pleased with a life dedicated to His
interests. It's too easy to get wrapped up in our own self-centeredness so that
we miss God's interests. Gathering together keeps us sharp. In our culture,
Sunday morning is for sleeping in and evenings are for recreation so it is
tempting to give up gathering with other Christians.
The truth is there is no
easy solution to knowing God and growing in Him - it takes continual decisions
to live obediently. God has provided relationships with other
Christians as a key support for these decisions. Let's not neglect to gather
together each and every week possible.

Thank You
Thank you, Shawn Stauffer, for donating some wonderful sound equipment to the church. This
donation radically boosted our ability to control the sound, record and soon
add podcasts and streaming video to our website. THANK YOU Shawn.

Vision
Our primary goal for ALL our activities is to
see people repent and follow Jesus. Our secondary goal is to see His followers
become "sanctified", that is, acting from a sincere heart in Holy living and
sacrificial love for those around them.
To accomplish this we must be in
significant prayer. We have a prayer time scheduled for 8 AM each Sunday
morning. We would like to see this group pray for a significantly longer period
after the worship team has to get back to rehearsal so we need some more prayer
people at 8 AM on Sundays.
If you want to get involved - let me know at pat@fourteensix.com
