A Letter of Thanks
|
We receive letters from guests of the Columbus Ronald McDonald House almost every day. This week we received this letter from a former guest expressing their gratitude for the services we provide, which are made possible by the generous financial contributions of individuals and corporations in Central Ohio. You allow families like this to be close to their children while they are being treated at Nationwide Children's Hospital. Thank you for your continued support.
Dear RMH
Staff;
Thank you for
your patience in receiving our room donation as our finances have been a
challenge for us these past few years. We have 10 children and when we
came to
the hospital for our son's surgery we had $20.00 in our pockets total for
gas and
food, and we were planning to take turns sleeping in the chair at his
bedside. The times were trying and exhausting.
We are so
grateful for the accommodations provided by RMH . It was such a support
and
blessing! We truly appreciated the room and food. Nationwide Children's Hospital has made a difference in our life and our son has improved
drastically
and has made a MIRACULOUS recovery.
God Bless and
Thank you!

Buy USA Today and Columbus Dispatch at McDonald's & Help RMHC
|
You already know that McDonald's is the place to get a great cup of coffee in the morning. But did you also know that you can purchase your newspaper? And each time you purchase a copy of USA Today or the Columbus Dispatch at your local Central Ohio McDonald's location, a portion of the proceeds from that sale will be donated to RMHC of Central Ohio. Now you can have a great cup of coffee, catch up on the news, and help provide a home-away-from-home for families of seriously ill children all at the same time! So visit your local McDonald's the next time you are looking to purchase USA Today or the Columbus Dispatch.
We would like to say a special "thank you" to USA Today, the Columbus Dispatch, and the McDonald's Owner/Operators of Central Ohio for their tremendous support of our Charity through this newspaper sale. Leading the effort to implement this program were McDonald's Owner/Operators Mike Telich, Chris Wilson and Megan Brumfield. We appreciate their hard work and dedication to RMHC!

Ronald McDonald Care Mobile - Rolling in Late 2010
|
Did you know that sixty percent of uninsured children do not
visit a physician's office during the year, and more than half have no care
from a provider of any type in an office-based setting? Poverty's impact is
felt most by a nation's children. Children under the age of five are more
likely to live in extreme poverty. Uninsured children are at a greater risk of
experiencing health problems such as obesity, heart disease and asthma that
continue to affect them later in adulthood. We are proud to announce that RMHC of Central Ohio will launch a Ronald McDonald Care Mobile program in late 2010. The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile will allow experts from
Nationwide Children's Hospital in pediatric wellness and specialty care to team
with people in the communities they serve to determine health needs, identify
children requiring health care, schedule appointments and gain the trust of the
people in that community. This mobile clinic will operate in underserved
communities in Central and Southeastern Ohio in partnership with local
healthcare organizations to tackle the access to health care problem head-on.
And our team will work with local primary care physicians to schedule follow-up
visits to bridge the gap between underserved children and local physicians. This
community-based program will go beyond improving health outcomes. The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile will reduce reliance on
expensive and inappropriate health resources, such as hospital emergency
departments; provide continuity of care; heighten awareness of childhood disease,
healthy lifestyles, and safety; help eligible families obtain government-assisted
health insurance; and partner with the community to address the area's most critical childhood health needs. Stay tuned for updates throughout the year about this exciting new partnership between RMHC and Nationwide Children's Hospital. If you have questions, please email Lisa Repaske, Operations Officer, at lrepaske@colrmhc.org. |
A Truly Amazing Event
|
The 2010 McDonald's All American High School Basketball Games came to Columbus, Ohio March 28-31, and it was a truly amazing week of basketball and charitable support. From the moment the players stepped foot on the grounds of the Columbus Ronald McDonald House (pictured here with Ronald) to the culmination of the week with the McDonald's All American Games, the event was more than simply an exhibition of basketball skill. Months of hard work on the part of the Steering Committee, the heart of the players themselves, and the generosity of the corporate community of Central Ohio combined to make this year's Games a record breaking event. All together, the McDonald's All American Games generated $1,060,000 for RMHC of Central Ohio, a tremendous accomplishment by any standards. We wish to express our deepest heartfelt thanks to McDonald's Ohio Region, McDonald's Owner/Operators of Central Ohio, The Ohio State University, The Greater Columbus Sports Commission, Safelite AutoGlass and all of the other corporate sponsors who made this event possible.
