 Snowy Pnod

The view from our office windows

Greetings!
We are tired of winter and are not able to get our head into actually hibernating. The snow was gorgeous, but now it's time for it to go away. Even though temperatures are due to be much milder in New York this week, these giant moguls are not going to melt till April...or May...or June.

We've Had Enough Winter by Jane Goldwasser

It's time for a new paradigm when it comes to seasons. I took a poll in our office and we all agreed, we need to change the calendar so that winter only lasts one month. Now it's true all of us grew up in the Northeast or Midwest so we aren't quite ready for an unchanging climate such as we might experience in Florida or Southern California - we really want four distinct seasons. We'd just like it to look like this...

Mid-December to Mid-January:  Actual winter, preferably with snow for Christmas.

Mid-January to Mid-May:  Spring, moderate temperatures, flowers, gentle breezes.

Mid-May to Mid-September:  Summer, but let's try to keep the temps out of the 90's and watch that excessive humidity stuff.

Mid-September to Mid-December: Fall, with beautiful colors and that great smell in the air.

If you agree with this change in the season schedule, please vote in our poll. If we get enough votes, we'll consider sponsoring a Constitutional amendment. Of course, with a split Congress it might take a few years till we get it passed.

Usually, we feature a new consumer insight in this space. So much of what we do in qualitative research is getting underneath what consumers show us and really listening to what they are saying. We were inspired by Brene Brown's wonderful TED talk on vulnerability, and how approaching situations whole-heartedly can help others be more open in turn. Watch the video here:

Where We Are

Jane and Missy will be presenting next week at the Florida Creativity Conference in Sarasota, FL. If you're tired of winter, there's still time to sign up for this enriching, invigorating and WARM conference!

Jane is also featured in this month's edition of 914 Inc. a new magazine published by Westchester Magazine. She is one of the featured "niche consultants" on page 88.

So, until we can get our seasonal change referendum passed into law, I'm off next week for my annual jaunt to the Florida Creativity Weekend where I finally get to put my FourSight certification to good use with my CPSI partner-in-crime, Suzie Nussel. And then it's off to Orlando for almost two more weeks of sunshine and spoiling my granddaughter as she turns 4 at Cinderella's castle!

Sincerely,

Jane
