A Disciple's Prayer
|
|
Loving God and Father, help us to be people of prayer, committed to the person and message of Jesus your Son.
Help us to grasp the integrity and beauty of the truths of our faith and the transforming power of your grace.
Nourish and strengthen us as people of faith, disciples of Jesus, committed to the mission of the Church and eager to share the gospel without restraint.
Let our hearts burn within us as we catch glimpses of your heart in Jesus, for through him, we know your loving plan for us.
We ask this through Jesus the Christ who lives with you and the Holy Spirit in one loving Trinity. Amen

"It is through baptism, the first foundational configuration to Christ, that each of us is called to spiritual renewal. It is the nurturing of this character to which we are inviting every parish to join as we prepare to begin a program called Why Catholic? ...Archbishop Joseph Kurtz
This Lent, parishioners in 104 parishes across the Archdiocese will take the time for learning and discussion to ask themselves a very important question:"Why Catholic?" Each season, meeting in small communities within homes, parishes, nursing homes, and college campuses, parishioners will journey through Sacred Scripture and the four pillars of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. The theme for this first season will be "Sacraments, Deepening my Experience of God." Subsequent seasons will feature prayer, essential Catholic beliefs, and Christian morality. This process will provide adults with an opportunity to discover the richness of their faith and identify ways to live it out in their daily life. Invitation for sign ups are being offered by local parishes this month. To find out more about this opportunity check out our website at www.archlou.org/whycatholic, call (502) 448-8581 or contact your local parish.
