Slivered Synth Arpeggiator by Franco DeFrancesca |
November 14 - January 10
Oeno Gallery's fall/winter group show will feature recent and new works by Gallery artists Franco DeFrancesca, Sophie DeFrancesca, Burton Kramer, Christopher Langstroth, Scott Pattinson, John Paul Robinson, Sasha Rogers, Su Sheedy, Ivo Stoyanov, Alice Vander Vennen, and Roger Wood.
Chromatic vibrations hum amongst the works in paint, metal, glass and mixed media in this exhibit. Hitting notes of high colour, sensuality and rhythmic movement, the works encourage dialogue and thoughtful exploration. What curious life and time does Roger Wood evoke with his steam punk clocks or Alice Vander Vennen imagine through her rich, pieced-together creations? What fine line between chaos and control does Scott Pattinson walk in his works on canvas? What questions are quietly prompted by the vast expanses of a Sasha Rogers painting?
Evocative and energetic, the Chromatic exhibition is a celebration of the creative process that takes viewers beyond the expected. |

Labyrinths: Clay and Paper
New Work by Susan Collett
Continues until November 10
Susan Collett's latest series of ceramic sculptures break new ground. Lush and mysterious, they challenge our ideas of space and light, and push the boundaries of possibility within the medium.
Collett's core interest lies in exploring the concept of chaos, through form and control of light, and the dichotomy between strength and fragility. Two artist residencies in China have been integral in solidifying these ideas.
This exhibition also features a series of Collett's monoprints - prints on paper made in one version that cannot be repeated - of graceful, floating natural shapes that echo her sculptures but have a life of their own.
Collett has received numerous awards for her work and recently received the honour of being inducted into the Royal Canadian Academy of the Arts. Her work has been featured in exhibitions in Canada, the U.S., China and Korea. |
What's New at Oeno
Enigmatic and moody new images from Etienne Labbe make intriguing viewing at Oeno as do the new inhabitants of the Gallery's outdoor sculpture garden.
Mysterious and tactile, Ryszard Litwiniuk's wood Metamorphose sculptures deal with ideas of evolution, the ecosystem, and transformation in nature and identity.
Chris Langstroth's highly textured paintings are investigations into paint application and its connection to remembered or imagined visual characteristics.
The "hectic frolic" and "electric surfaces" of Scott Pattinson's most recent paintings are vividly explored by Aidan M.D. Ware, in a recent essay Silence.
