Greg Angus: We Are What We've Been Waiting For
July 25 - August 16
"This summer, the best reason to visit Oeno Gallery is Greg Angus," notes art critic, Monika Burman, in the July/August edition of MAG Mass Art Guide. "Kinetic use of colour is signature in Angus' work. The high-saturation and neon-brights vibrate with energy drawing us through many pathways in the image. You need time with these works to feel the electric connections of colours running into one another, bouncing off one another, and fusing together."
Angus' large-scale encaustic paintings - layers upon layers of oil paint mixed with melted wax - play with notions of identity, both individual and collective. Beginning with a fingerprint, Angus manipulates the image, creating a collage. Within the collage, he exposes complex patterns reminiscent of those found in the human body, sub atomic particles and the movements of star systems. By transforming the fingerprint - our basic form of identity - his paintings bridge the gap between what is wholly unique to every individual, and what exists for all of us in the universe.
Please join us at the Opening reception on July 26 from 3pm - 7pm. |

Andrew Lui Exhibit Continues until July 22
The exhibition of Andrew Lui's new works at Oeno Gallery features paintings in ink and acrylic on rice paper. The pieces are visual translations of those things which both afflict and affect us, the sorrows and joys of living. Lui speaks to the duality in all things, the dialogue between east and west, the passage of time and its recurring themes.
"Sparse and strikingly contemporary, Lui's compositions proclaim their own territory while his brushstroke harks at the fluidity of eastern calligraphy," notes Montreal art critic, Dorota Kozinska.

In The Alcoves
Enjoy new works from Australian glass artists Eileen and Kevin Gordon.
Eileen's works are a radiant record of the colour and light she finds in the Australian landscape. "My passion for colour and form as a fused glass artist is greatly inspired by the environment of the Mornington Peninsula - the surrounding ocean, its sunrises and fabulous sunsets."
Kevin Gordon's glass vessels have multi layers of coloured glass engraved with the repetition of mysterious objects, profiles and figures. He fuses layers of glass, with engravings and incised prisms and lenses to trap and transmit light and colour.
Also in the alcoves, works by Etienne Labbe, Sylvain Louis-Seize, Kim Atlin, Otto Rogers and Sasha Rogers. |
