Usui Reiki I Class
What is Reiki?
|
|
Reiki literally means Universal Life Energy; it is the energy (chi or ki) that flows through all living things. Reiki practitioners learn to connect to this unlimited supply of energy and to transmit it through their hands to themselves and others, creating the space for improved health and enhanced well-being.
Usui Reiki was developed in Japan and brought to the West in the early twentieth century. Initially, it was prohibitively expensive to learn Reiki. Today, however, Reiki has become more mainstream and is used by thousands of practitioners. Indeed, Reiki's efficacy has been proved by numerous scientific double-blind studies. It is widely used in hospitals and other health-care settings with great success.
What is included in the class?
You will receive a Reiki I manual and learn the history of Reiki in the East and West and basic chakra/meridian theory. You will also learn the standard Reiki hand positions for giving a full-body Reiki treatment to yourself or to someone else. (Reiki works great on pets!) After receiving the Reiki I attunement, which increases your ability to channel the Reiki energy through your hands, you will learn the philosophy and ethics of giving Reiki to others. The class is very hands-on, so you will have many opportunities to practice.
