   TIME TO LEARN SOMETHING NEW!

With the new year under way take the first step to learn something you've always wanted to learn. The Clearing, founded by famed landscape architecht, Jens Jensen, intended this unique venue to be a location where one can explore their personal vision through reflection & learning.

The winter programs offer over 100 day classes. By engaging here you give yourself the opportunity to explore your personal vision. The Clearing has an awesome group of volunteer instructors who are happy to share their wealth of knowledge & talent. Visit: www.theclearing.org to find your muse!

Brown Sugar Cardamon Shortbread Bars

1 Cup butter, softened

1 1/4 c brown sugar + 2 Tbsp

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp. powdered cardamon

Beat together the butter and brown sugar until light and creamy.  Sift the cardamon and flour then add to butter mixture.Gather the dough into a ball and press out on to a lightly greased rectangular baking tray so that it is 1/2" thick. Sprinkle the extra brown sugar evenly on the top and lightly press into the dough.
Cover the tray with plastic wrap and refrigerate until firm (about an hour). Mark the dough into bars by cutting through to the bottom with a sharp knife.(If you wish to bake this later, the dough will keep in the fridge up to 3 days.) Bake the bars at 150c for 35-40 minutes until firm to the touch.  Press very lightly to see if they are done.  Cool on racks and store in airtight containers.  Makes 36 Bars. Enjoy!
