With the holidays in full swing, the Chamber invites you to remember The H FACTOR and support Reno County merchants during this busy shopping season.

The H FACTOR is an initiative by the Hutchinson/Reno County Chamber of Commerce to raise awareness of the importance of spending money here at home. Spending money locally makes a tremendous impact on our community, as sales tax dollars are funneled back into Reno County to support emergency services, streets and parks.

Hometown spending also helps provide tax relief because local governments that receive hefty budgetary support through sales tax become less dependent upon property tax hikes to fund community services. This can help keep the mill levy low - meaning lower property taxes for everyone!

Reno County has a lot to offer--not just in retail, but in dining, health care, professional services, business supplies, entertainment...and more. You might not be able to find everything you need at home, but we encourage you to look here first. Before heading out-of-town or looking online for those holiday purchases, consider the powerful difference that hometown spending has on our community.

Help us to educate your employees, friends and the public at large about the benefits of spending locally! Following are ways you can help promote the hometown spending message:

• Run our radio spot in your schedule
• Tag your radio spot with our 10 second tag (Both available at your local radio station!)
• Include The H FACTOR logo in your print ad
• Add The H FACTOR logo and link to your website
• Feature a brief article in your company print or e-newsletter
• Hang The H FACTOR poster in employee break room and make rack cards available
