| Downtown Hutchinson Gift Cards |
The Downtown Gift Card Program, which began in late 2004 has been a very successful program for both customers and Downtown merchants. However, the DHRP believes it is time to look at some other type of program.
Effective July 1st, merchants and institutions that sell Downtown Gift Cards should discontinue selling them. Businesses that are set up to accept Downtown Gift Cards should continue to accept Downtown Gift Cards for customers' purchases unless the Gift Card has expired.
Any Gift Card supplies that you have, such as unsold or redeemed gift cards, card covers, and envelopes will be picked up if you give either Jim Seitnater or Carol Mitchell a call or e-mail jims@hutchgov.com or carolm@hutchgov.com.
We wish to thank the Downtown merchants and institutions that have been a part of this program and sold Downtown Gift Cards and hope to let you know soon what will take their place.

From Director Jim Seitnater |
Let's Get Rid of the Weeds
and Keep our Sidewalks Clean! We appreciate all the help from Downtown business proprietors and owners in keeping the weeds pulled and sidewalks clean and our Downtown looking great! Your customers notice it too. With the recent rain we've had and hot temperatures weeds are still growing rapidly. Let's all continue to do our part and keep weeds pulled or sprayed while they are still small and easy to take care of. We're proud of Downtown and want it to look its best for shoppers and visitors.
A lot of dedicated people are working hard to make downtown a better place. If you are interested in helping or need more information about Downtown Hutchinson activities, events or volunteer opportunities , please call our office at 694-2677 or e-mail jims@hutchgov.com.
Watch our website www.downtownhutchinson.com for details on upcoming events and activities. Now you can follow Downtown Hutchinson on Facebook and become our friend. |
Smoking Law In Effect July 1st |
A new Federal law goes into effect July 1st that makes it illegal to smoke in any public place and within a ten foot radius outside of any doorway, open window, or air intake leading into a building or facility that is not exempted by law.
On that note, we are requesting all downtown businesses to please check your sidewalks and curbs every day or two to make sure that cigarettes and other tobacco products and residue (including tobacco juice) do not litter the sidewalks and curbs. If there is trash and tobacco products, please sweep these up and dispose of them.
This is particularly important outside of restaurants because this type of litter is very unappetizing. Your customers do notice the cleanliness outside your building, including the sidewalks and curbs!
Please help us keep our Downtown beautiful and attractive to our customers and employees!

| PROMOTION COMMITTEE - Chair Nan Hawver | Downtown Hutchinson's
Annual Art Tour was a huge success! Thanks
to all those businesses who hosted an artist for the Art Tour this past week. Downtown Hutchinson experienced record attendance...even
on a very hot windy evening. Our thanks
to Jennifer Randall for her hard work in procuring the many participating
artists and bands and Lloyd Armstrong for making the t-shirt stands for the
participating venues. It was a perfect evening to have your doors open and invite
people in! Will your cash registers ring
all night? Maybe not...but it's your
chance to welcome people to your store and your downtown. They might just come back! Mark
your calendars for next year's Art Tour.
It will be the Third Thursday in June!
Reminder: Watch the
Newsletter for upcoming events! If
you're interested in being involved with Third Thursday or events like The Art
Tour, you'll find the contact information in the Newsletter or call Carol
Mitchell at 694-2677.
ChiliFest - September 25th
It's coming! We're
busy planning and sending letters to past participants. Have you considered participating? It's great visibility for a business and its
fun! If you don't want to make
chili...sponsor a team. Get involved!
October - We may have a new exciting event coming your way! We'll keep you posted!
If you would like to be involved in promoting Downtown...the
Promotion Committee is the place for you!
(And everyone knows we're the fun committee.) Call me at 662-6460 or Carol Mitchell -
