What's It All About?
|
"If any think they are religious, and do not bridle their tongues but deceive their hearts, their religion is worthless. Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to care for orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world." - James 1:26-27What's it all about? This is the ultimate religious question, if one understands the word religion in terms of its Latin root: religio. Religio means to bind together. Religion denotes the quest to see life as a whole, to connect its disparate pieces, to hold it all together. Even if you are not asking the question with your lips, you are asking it with your life: what's it all about?********************** The sermons from this August series are available online by clicking here. |

| Journey Together

This year's ELCA Assembly has garnered a lot of attention because of the adoption of the social statement on human sexuality. The links below provide more background on the Assembly and the vote. Bishop Hanson invites us "into important, thoughtful, prayerful conversation about what all of this means for our life in mission together. What is absolutely important for me is that we have this conversation together." We will be scheduling opportunities for conversation on this topic soon.
