What's It All About?

Are you churched, dechurched, unchurched or rechurched?  What difference does it make?  Are these categories that define us or stages we live through or something else?  We'll explore these questions this weekend.
IMPACT

We are gearing up to participate in the annual listening process of IMPACT (Interfaith Movement Promoting Action by Congregations Together).  The purposes of the listening process include:
  • Building relationships among members & congregations
  • Bringing problems of common concern to the surface
  • Strengthening the Justice Ministry Network in congregations
This year we are adding a new dimension to the listening process by partnering up with 2 other congregations:  Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church and Islamic Society of Central Virginia.  This will give us the opportunity to hear what others are concerned about in our community and to build relationships with these congregations.

We at Peace Lutheran Church are especially in need of Justice Ministry Network members who will help coordinate the listening process within Peace and with our partner congregations.  Please contact Kim Wilkens (kimxtom@gmail.com), if you are interested in hosting a house meeting for listening or coordinating house meetings with our partner congregations.  There will be a Listening Process Training on August 27 at 6:30pm, First Presbyterian.

Mark your calendars:
All are invited to the Annual Assembly on October 19 at 6:30pm, St. Thomas Aquinas.  This is where we vote on what new issue IMPACT will research and act on in 2010!

Adopt-a-Family Ministry

The total amount in proceeds from the yard sale, bake sale, ice cream/drink concession and Boy Scouts snow cone stand was $3,383.25!  This money along with a grant from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans will be used for Adopt-a-Family at Christmas this year.  Many thanks to everyone who helped setup, worked during and cleaned up after this event.
