what movie have you seen or book you have read where you felt a God
connection. Post your reviews at peacepods.blogspot.com and we'll be on our way to collecting a great
summer viewing and reading list!

Summer BLAST!
|
We invite you to have a BLAST with us this summer - we believe that we are Blessed to be Loving and Serving Together! This summer our mission focuses on fellowship and service, and we hope to provide you with opportunities to make new friends and be the arms of love, while we serve our local and global communities together.
Each week we'll highlight a few fellowship and service opportunities. This week we want to highlight our Read to Read mission.
We are using the summer months to show our children how they can make a difference in their global and local communities, and at the same time enhance their own reading experience through the summer!
How will we do this?
By Baking! Children and Families are invited to participate in the Hollymead Yard Sale on Saturday, June 13th. We will be setting up a lemonade stand/bake sale here at the church to support our Read to Read mission efforts for the summer. Questions? By Reading! All children of Peace are invited to participate in our new Read to Read Program. Children will be asked to line up sponsors who will "pay" them for reading books over the summer months. They can pay per book, or sponsor them for an amount of time spent reading. The money will be collected at the end of the summer, and will go towards purchasing books for children in Honduras and Southwest Virginia. There will be a sign up table in the Narthex for readers and sponsors next weekend!
By participating in a Book Swap! We want to support each other as we read - and it's fun to find out what our friends are reading, so we will be hosting a book swap for children and friends of Peace. Start collecting your gently used books and we'll announce a book "swap" date soon!
By Doing Chores for Change! We also offer the chores for change program to help support the global mission trip to Honduras and new mission efforts in Southwest Virginia. In order to help the children of Peace earn money toward helping the schoolchildren in Honduras and Southwest Virginia, please use these suggestions for jobs that children can do around the house to earn money from you. Parents can determine a price for each chore done. (See chores for change page)
By Sponsoring a Child! Adults at Peace who do not have children are invited to support our kids on mission beginning next weekend (June 13/14) by sponsoring them to read or helping out with the bake sale. Our kids "learn Christ" from us - stop by the Read to Read table!
