Easter People
|
Let us relinquish the future. Let us relinquish it to God, who upholds us in our pain, who frees us for doing what is faithful, but who frees us from the need to prevail.... Gathered around Word and sacrament, fellowship and prayer, a confessing church, in the midst of encircling chaos, will stand in the name of God's peace. A community of reconciliation in the midst of division, of the cross in the midst of compromise, and of joy in the midst of despair, it will play its part by bearing witness to Jesus Christ, crucified and risen. - Disruptive Grace by George Hunsinger
What does it mean to be Easter People? The Easter story brings us to a pivotal moment, but Jesus' resurrection is not the end of the story. Every day, Easter people make a decision whether or not to live their lives touched by the actions and words of Jesus. In this series, we'll explore how Easter people can endeavor to live lives that are reconciled with, redirected to, refreshed by and reunited in Christ.

Small Group Book "Club"
|
The first small group book "club" based on Rob Bell's book, The Velvet Elvis is starting soon! This book is an introduction to the Christian faith that is definitely outside the usual box. Bell wants to offer "a fresh take on Jesus"- that begins with the assertion that Jesus wanted to "call people to live in tune with reality" and that he "had no use for religion." Bell invites seekers into a Christianity that has room for doubts. He cites his church as a place of forgiveness, mystery, community and transformation and this book presents those very concepts as being a part of a life of faith. Bell is well-versed in Jewish teachings and draws from rabbinic wisdom and stories freely. When: Tuesday nights at 7pm for 6 weeks beginning April 28 Where: Peace South Campus Who: All are welcome!
