40 Days with the Lord's Prayer
|
Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil.
"In a world where God's name is not perfectly hallowed, where God's kingdom has not perfectly come, and God's will is not perfectly done, the threats and enticements of evil confront everyone, and every day we are tempted to yield. In this prayer we pray that God would both protect us as we face this inevitability and give us the wisdom and strength to make good choices, choices that mirror the will and way of God disclosed by Jesus." Holy Week and Easter
|
Saturday and Sunday, April 4-5: Our Holy Week experience begins on Palm/Passion Weekend, when we receive palm branches and participate in the passion drama of our Lord.
Thursday, April 9 (7:00pm) Maundy Thursday Service of Holy Communion: We begin the Three Day (Triduum) liturgy on Maundy Thursday. Maundy means "command;" on this night we remember the command of Jesus (from the foot-washing) to serve and love one another. We share communion because on this night Jesus instituted the Lord's Supper. Other special moments include an individual absolution and the stripping of the altar.
April 10 (Noon and 7:00pm) Good Friday Services of Meditation Upon the Cross: At the heart of the Good Friday liturgy is the passion according to John, whish leads us to meditate on the cross and the life-giving passion of Jesus. In the ancient bidding prayer we offer petitions for all the world for whom Christ died.
April 11 (7:00pm) Easter Vigil Service at St. Mark Lutheran Church: We join with brothers and sisters from St. Mark and Grace & Glory to begin our celebration of Easter with the Easter Vigil. The resurrection of Christ is proclaimed in word and sign, and we gather around a fire, hear ancient stories of our faith, renew our baptism and share communion. Worshipers are invited to bring a snack to share for the reception following the service.
April 12 (8:00am, 9:30am & 11:00am) Celebration of the Resurrection of our Lord: The festival of the Resurrection of our Lord will be celebrated three times on Easter morning, at 8:00, 9:30, and 11:00am. Because of the expanded worship schedule, there will be no Sunday School classes this morning. Following the 11:00am service, an Easter meal and an Easter egg hunt will be held.

Be Our Guest
|
Holy Week is almost here and
for Peace it means the opportunity to share this special time with
friends and family and others who come
to "check us out" and worship with us.
Let's
"practice hospitality" by extending the hand of welcome to strangers, offering
our seats to guests, and moving over in the pews to make room for
late-comers. In other words, let's
"roll out the red carpet". This will
be one of those times when the world comes to us; let's make them glad they
did. Maybe they'll decide to come
again!
