Walking Wet

At the heart of us all is the desire to help meet
the
deepest need of the human spirit
to be loved and to love unreservedly.

We long to find ways to give ourselves
more concretely and genuinely
to the one who said:

"Love one another
as I have loved you."

Obeying this commandment
is our greatest challenge
and our greatest freedom.
- Becoming the Authentic Church

This weekend we explore what it looks like be a community of faith - Walking Wet Together, Not Alone.

Make an IMPACT on Affordable Housing

The joint Charlottesville/Albemarle County/UVA Affordable Housing Task Force report has been released.  It will be presented to local government this coming week.  Kim Wilkens will be speaking at the County Board of Supervisors meeting to give a voice to IMPACT's support of the recommendations in the report.  Please come out and show your support as well.  The larger number of people IMPACT can bring out to these meetings, the more serious our local politicians will take the recommendations. As Mayor Norris wrote, "Now comes the hard part -- generating the political will to actually implement these recommendations so the report doesn't end up sitting on a shelf somewhere, gathering dust."
  • City Council Meeting Feb 2, 7pm at City Hall (located on the downtown mall), 2nd floor in City Council Chambers.
  • County Supervisor Meeting Feb 4, 9am County Office building on 401 McIntire Road, on the second floor in Lane Auditorium.

Ministry Fair

Have you every thought to yourself:
"Who is doing that?"
"Is anyone taking care of this?"
"Gee, I wish I had known that that was happening,
I would have liked to help out with it."

The Discernment Team with the encouragement of the Leadership Council is planning a Ministry Fair to be held on March 7th after the pot luck dinner and March 8th during Sunday school hour to help answer these questions.

Mark your calendars for the March 7-8 weekend Ministry Fair. Come see what God is up to at Peace.

Lenten Journey

In this upcoming season of Lent, we will be taking a journey as we spend 40 days with the Lord's Prayer. "The Lord's Prayer is packed with words that represent the Bible's central themes and motifs-the name of God, the kingdom of God, the will of God, the provision of bread, forgiveness, rescue, and deliverance."

Most of us probably know this prayer by heart, but do we really understand how this prayer turns things upside down. We will be using the Book of Faith 40-Day Lenten Journey book as our guide on this adventure. This book includes daily devotional resources and we encourage the whole congregation to join the journey. We'll be pre-ordering this book soon, so please let us know if you'd like  a copy. The cost is $8.00.
