Walking Wet

This weekend we will take a moment to return to the font and remember that we were invited by Jesus, the Son of God, to follow him, to be with him, to live with him!

As the Spirit of God calls us to follow Jesus, we are called "to live among God's faithful people, to hear the word of God and share in the Lord's supper, to proclaim the good news of God in Christ through word and deed, to serve all people, following the example of Jesus, and to strive for justice and peace in all the earth."

Mark Your Calendars!

There are two very important events coming up in March that we want you to mark on your calendars:

On March 7 and 8 Peace will hold its first annual Ministry Fair.  The purpose of this fair to identify the entry points into service and fellowship at Peace, demonstrate how the various ministry teams help Peace fulfill its mission and provide members and friends of Peace the opportunity to put names, faces and jobs together.

The Ministry Fair will take place three times over the weekend:
- After the potluck on Saturday, March 7
- Between services at 9:45am on March 8
- After the 11am service on March 8

On March 30, Peace will participate in the 3rd annual Nehemiah Action as part of IMPACT.  This is the large meeting at U-Hall where IMPACT presents the research it has done on community problems, proposes solutions to decision makers and asks for commitments to implement solutions.  This year the focus is on education.  There will also be updates on past issues of adult dental care and affordable housing.

All you have to do to participate is show up to the meeting and be counted.  It may seem like a small role, but the large numbers we can bring out to the Nehemiah Action has a HUGE impact on positive changes in our community.  Results from past Action meetings include improved public transportation, creation of uninsured adult dental care services, additional monies for affordable housing in the city and a joint City of Charlottesville, Albemarle County and UVa affordable housing task force that is about to release their recommendations to address the local affordable housing crisis.
Pizza with the Pastor

On Sunday, February 1st,  we invite you to have "Pizza with the Pastor" at 12:15 in the Fellowship Hall. This is a great way to get to know the Pastor and other staff & members of Peace. Please sign up for Pizza with the Pastor using the "Green Sheet" bulletin insert or call the church office.

If you know anyone new to Peace or anyone interested in finding out more about us, please invite them to this informal lunch.

Calling All Counters

Can you count?  Then this job may be perfect for you.  We have a dedicated cadre of counters who count and deposit our church monies each week. Additional counters are needed. Counters work in a group of three. This allows the work to progress at a fairly rapid pace (usually 1.5 to 2 hours per session). All new counters will be trained by Barbara Gerding, bookkeeper, and Keith Hammon, financial secretary. The more counters we have the less individuals have to be scheduled. The goal is to lessen a counter's time to less than once every two months. Couples can make up 2/3 of a team.
