The Way of Generosity

There is a principle that has been important to us in The Church of the Saviour, primarily in the formation of the church and in my own life: the importance of "climate." By climate I mean a climate of scarcity or of abundance. It is the major thing that can defeat a family or a person or certainly a church community if there is a climate of scarcity. It doesn't seem to matter what the real facts are; if the climate is of not having enough, one never does. - Mary Cosby

The generosity of God leads us to a posture of openness with our lives as well as with our resources. Walking in the way of generosity involves being available, opening our lives to others and living intentionally.  This weekend, we learn about opening our lives so that we can be transformed by God's generosity.

Prayer Retreat
We have the privilege of being able to use the beautiful facilities of the Blue Ridge Community Church in Ruckersville to get away (locally) for a time of refreshing our prayer lives. This event focuses on re-establishing a discipline of prayer.

Prayer is a conversation with God. Like conversation, prayer takes different forms. It may be impossible to describe all the ways people pray. Our unique personalities, our different gifts and experiences, give our prayer its own particular intonation. Even though we may use the same words, we each pray with our own voice. The reflections which are part of this retreat may help you find your own voice for conversing with God.

This retreat will also allow us to explore other expressions of prayer, such as centering prayer, healing prayer, and the use of prayer beads and prayer shawls.  Breaks will be provided to allow for private meditation and reflection, prayer journaling and even prayer doodling in the midst of the beautiful grounds of this facility.  This experience is for everyone - men & woman, experienced prayers and those seeking to know more.

When:  Friday, October 24 evening and Saturday, October 25
Contact:  Jenny Cudahy, cudahyj@msn.com
Cost:  $25, includes health snacks & lunch
Where:  Blue Ridge Community Church is located just off Rt. 29 at the Albemarle and Greene County lines, in a beautiful 20 acre park-like setting.  It is ten miles north of Charlottesville and three miles south of Ruckersville.
