The Way of Generosity
|
Sharing is not "I don't need it, you can have it". Sharing is "I need it, but I see you need it too - let's share".
This weekend we start a new worship series - The Way of Generosity. This may be an especially challenging series as our nation faces economic crisis. It's difficult for individuals and institutions to think about sharing ourselves, our time and our possessions with such uncertainty about what's happening with our paychecks, our college funds, our mortgages and our retirement. But there are always signs of God's gracious love. God continues to fill us up and we pray to be bold in opening our lives to others because we understand that whatever we share is compounded by God's love.

Saturday Potluck Don't miss the potluck this Saturday. It is being hosted by the Simply in Season Bible study class! Bring a dish to share, or simply stop in and enjoy a meal with friends.
IMPACT IMPACT
is beginning its third year of pursuing social justice in the
Charlottesville/Albemarle community. There are many ways to
participate. One way is to be a Justice Ministry Network member. What this means is that you commit to attend the 3 major IMPACT
meetings (Oct 28, Feb 26 & Mar 30) and that you will bring 3 other
people to the Action meeting on March 30. Last year, IMPACT
congregations brought out a record number of nearly 2,000 people to the
Nehemiah Action meeting at U-Hall and we have seen the positive results
that this kind of turnout generates.
IMPACT and Dinner at the Poole's. Still not sure what IMPACT is or if
you want to get involved? This is an opportunity for people from Peace
to learn more about IMPACT and share local social justice concerns in a
very informal way. And did we mention, there will be food! When: October 11 at 6:15pm Where: Ruth & David Poole's home RSVP: Ruth at 974-6458 or ruthbpoole@embarqmail.com
The Annual IMPACT Assembly is the first of three major IMPACT meetings. This
will be the meeting where participants vote on the issues to be worked
on this year. Please mark your calendars now! Let's plan on doing a
carpool from Peace at 6:00pm. When: October 27 at 6:30pm Where: St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church
