What's the Big Idea?

We are eagerly anticipating the Fall line-up of discipleship opportunities and we are kicking off this new season in a big way!

First, we'll begin a new worship series August 30 & 31 called Practicing the Faith.  In this series, we'll revisit the 6 marks of a disciple:  a heart for Christ alone, a mind transformed by the Word, arms of love, knees for prayer, a voice to speak the good news, and the feet of a servant.

Next, we'll give our arms of love a workout on September 7 as we host a Block Party for our Hollymead neighbors and VBS friends.

Finally, the Sunday school season kicks off on September 14 with learning opportunities for all ages.

Look for the Fall Programming Guide, which will highlight all our discipleship opportunities, to be available August 30 & 31.

We really need people to donate food, help cook food, serve food, direct parking, welcome people, donate and put up cabanas, help with children's games, etc.

Yard & Bake Sale Results
Proceeds from this year's Yard & Bake Sale exceeded $3500!

Each year the proceeds from The Yard & Bake Sale are deposited into the Adopt-A-Famiy Fund.  We then submit a report to Thrivent detailing the event from start to finish.  Thrivent then gives us an additional contribution which we will add to the Adopt-A-Family Fund.  The total amount is then used to help individuals and families in need in the Charlottesville area and our own community of faith at Peace.

Many thanks to the almost 50 volunteers who helped make this annual event a success and a special thanks to Joyce Lawrence & Dot Utter for leading the way!

Hollymead Elementary School
As we continue to look for opportunities to use our arms of love and servant feet in the local community, we are finding several ways to serve Hollymead Elementary School.  We have provided 25 students with school supplies this year, we're kicking off a reading buddy program this Fall and we look forward to finding more opportunities to serve this community.
Notes from the Leadership Council
