The Gift of Sabbath, the Unhurried Life
feasting
In our fourth and final week of the series on the Sabbath, we remember that the Sabbath invites us to cease and to rest, to slow down and enjoy the gifts of God, to worship and pray, to feast and play. We learn that, because God wants us to enjoy the best possible life, we are to build a Sabbath ritual into our own lives.

This weekend offers a couple of great reasons to feast.   Not only do we celebrate Independence Day, but we have the joy and honor of celebrating David Hively's time with Peace.  The feast starts Saturday night during worship and continues for a Peace Feast after worship, complete with everything you'd expect from a celebration; food, fun & fellowship for all ages (and maybe a "roast" or two for David).  Bring your favorite finger food to share and come wish David a fond farewell as he embarks on the next step on his life's journey!
Talking the Bible, Having Words with God
Do you have questions about the Bible? Most everyone does, especially if they've tried to read it.

Questions like:having words with God
Why are there apparent discrepancies in the Bible?
Is the God of the Old Testament the same as the God of the New Testament?
What are we to do with the passages about God commanding Israel to destroy the surrounding populations?
Is the Bible at odds with science?
Is the Bible a human document, a divine document, or both?
Who wrote the Bible?
What is the purpose of the Bible?
How is the Bible God's Word?

We may have questions about the content of the Bible:
What is the main message of the Bible?
What are the main parts of the Bible?
How was the Bible put together?

And perhaps a few particularly Lutheran questions:
How do Lutherans interpret the Bible?
What do you mean, Law and Gospel?

We will be addressing many of these questions in the upcoming series about the Bible. What is your question about the Bible? Please send it to Pastor John at johndherman@comcast.net.

Bring your Bibles to worship and let's "talk the Bible" together.
