The Gift of Sabbath, the Unhurried Life
embracing
church in the now, life in the now
"where are we going? what do we need to do next?  how do we find new leaders that can start some new things in the future? how do we develop that next group? when can we launch that next program?  where do we want to go with this ministry?  what is happening in the fall?"  almost never have the conversations been about what was happening NOW.   we would maybe do a check in here and there on "how things were going" but then the conversation always went toward "what was next and how we could make things better, bigger, more strategic."  ugh! argh! how sad!  what happens in this oh-so-typical model is that we miss out on the beautiful and powerful presence of God's work in the moment.  we become insatiable, like what "is" isn't enough and we must do whatever we can do to get "more."

we want to hear from you
The weekend of July 12 & 13 we'll be starting a new worship series, Talking the Bible:  Having Words with God.  This series will be focused on the Bible and will look at things like what it is, why it is, and how we approach it? The worship design team enjoyed so much the interaction and dialogue generated with the Can U Hear Me Now? series, that we'd like to keep the conversation going.  This time we want to know how you interact with the Bible and what questions you have about it.  You can post your words @ peacepods.blogspot.com, e-mail them to anybody on the worship design team or tell them to us.

Worship design team members include Irene Cernik, Jenny Cudahy, John Herman, David Hively, Ken Hymes, and Kim Wilkens.
  Peace Feast II
Join us for another summer 'Peace Feast' on Saturday, July 5th at 6:15pm. We will be feasting that evening on appetizers and finger foods.....we invite you to bring bring your favorite summer 'finger food' fare and enjoy a potuck, as well as a celebration of David Hively's time with us.  We will have outdoor games for children and grown-up children!
Signposts of God's Love
It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. - Ephesians 4:11-13

The weekend of June 7 & 8 we had an opportunity to exchange letters of encouragement with our sisters and brothers in Christ at St. Mark Lutheran Church and Grace & Glory Lutheran Church.

As with our interfaith justice and charity work, this intrafaith dialog is important in preparing us for God's work and building up the body of Christ in the world.  If you are interested in joining the intrafaith conversations, contact Pastor John.
