The Gift of Sabbath, the Unhurried Life
|
"Stop what you're doing right now, or you're going to get a time-out!" Anybody else ever heard or uttered these words? I think sometimes we view the commandment about remembering the Sabbath and keeping it holy as a time-out, one of God's disciplining techniques for wayward children. There is a corrective nature to this commandment, but not in a punishment sort of way. Instead, Sabbath offers us this amazing gift of time. Time free from worry, stress, deadlines and the need to succeed. Time infused with energy, perspective, meaning and God's unconditional love.
Join us over the next four weekends at worship as we learn more about the Gift of Sabbath, the Unhurried Life.

Break-through to Joy Workshop
|
This summer we invite you to experience a 'Break-through to Joy' retreat with Pastors Bobby and Juliette Alston from an organization called Oaks of Righteousness (www.oaksofrighteousness.org). This is an introductory course to Christian inner healing. The four sessions on Friday evening, June 27th and Saturday, June 28th will each include teaching time followed by small group work. The lessons will revolve around forgiveness, bitter root judgments (which are the powerful driving forces behind many recurring patterns of trouble and destruction in our lives), inner vows (which are are the promises made to oneself early in life and then often forgotten) and generational curses.
This retreat is designed to help individuals recognize negative patterns which may be in their lives. Through proven scriptural inner healing principles participants can experience lasting freedom and victory from the bondage of ungodly structures. Individuals will have the opportunity to open up their hearts in a safe and confidential small group atmosphere with no more than six participants.
This retreat will be held in the South Campus of Peace Lutheran Church, and is limited to 6 participants. Light refreshments will be provided. To sign up, or if you have questions, contact Nancy Schmitz at nancy.schmitz@earthlink.net or Jenny Cudahy at cudahyj@msn.com.
This is the last weekend to sign up!
When: One session on Friday evening June 27: 6-9pm and three sessions on Saturday, June 28th: 9-12am; 1-4pm; and 6-9pm Where: Peace's South Campus Cost: $70

Family Needs Fund
"I am
not trying to make life easier for others by making life harder for
you. But it is only fair for you to share with them when you have so
much, and they have so little. Later, when they have more than enough,
and you are in need, they can share with you. Then everyone will have a
fair share."
2 Corinthians 8:13-14
Over the last several weeks, we have been receiving many requests for
financial help, and hearing about others in need who haven't requested
assistance. These include families who are affiliated with Peace and
families outside of our congregation. Recently, thanks to your
generosity, we were able to assist a teacher who had to move out of her
home because of structural damage. All the funds of our Family Needs Fund have been given out to people in need. Therefore, if you find
yourself in a position of abundance, and are able to help those who are
in difficult times, please consider making a contribution to the Family
Needs Fund at Peace. Make your check payable to
Peace Lutheran Church and mark Family Needs Fund on the memo line.
If you find yourself in need, please ask for help. Contact Pastor
John, so that as funds become available, the community of Peace can provide some help and support to you.
Thank you for your generosity, Pastor John |
