The Gift of Sabbath, the Unhurried Life
We will begin The Gift of Sabbath, the Unhurried Life worship series the weekend of June 14th & 15th.  Initial ideas about the series have come from the book Keeping the Sabbath Wholly by Dawn Marva.

We hope to discover how the Sabbath is to be different from all the other days, a day set apart. The rhythm of the Sabbath gives energy and perspective and meaning to the rest of the week. It is a critical part of God's plan for how we should live. It is a gift, for our benefit.

If We Could Do Nothing
If we were not so single-minded
about keeping our lives moving,
and for once could do nothing,
perhaps a huge silence
might interrupt this sadness
of never understanding ourselves
and of threatening ourselves with death.
Source: Pablo Neruda from Keeping Still

What are you thoughts on Sabbath keeping?
Tubing on the James
Spend your Sabbath on the James River with other friends from Peace. Bring your fishing tackle along for the best small mouth bass fishing on the east coast or simply unwind with a packed cooler for that picnic and let the James River take you away. This event is for children and adults ages 5 and over, provided the children can swim!

When: Sunday, June 29 @ 1:15pm
Where: James River Reeling and Rafting in Scottsville
Cost: $17 per person (if we have 25 people)

Signposts of God's Love
During worship a couple of weekends ago, we learned about two signposts of God's love, one going on locally at the Bridge Ministry and another going on globally with the Honduras Mission Center plans.  A couple of folks have just come back from a Building Goodness project in Pearlington, MS.  Soon others will be leaving for a medical mission trip to Haiti.  By the fall, we're hoping to coordinate and staff a Reading Buddy program for a local school.

We are learning that there are so many paths that we can take to "go in Christ" and one of the ways that Peace can facilitate God's work out there is to help folks figure out:
- what's going on?
- who's doing what?
- how can I get hooked up?

Toward that end, I'd like to start collecting information about the signposts of God's love that you are involved with, what opportunities to serve are available and how you can be a link between Peace and the signpost.

Some of the information I'd like to start collecting includes:
- organization/mission name
- description of organization/mission
- what are the opportunities to serve?
- how can you help hook someone up?

Send this information to Kim Wilkens at kimxtom@gmail.com and we'll see where the signposts lead us.
