N&W teams on PennDOT's Aviation/Rail Open-End Agreement
airplane
Navarro & Wright teams with Parsons Brinkerhoff to assist with PennDOT's $2 million Aviation/Rail Freight Open-End Agreement.   The firm will provide Oversight Services for this contract as well as support services for Engineering, Market Assessment, Inspection, Environmental Studies, Preliminary Engineering, Final Design for Aviation Projects, Rail freight Safety andConstruction Management, Financial Reporting and Airport Approach Surveys.
PennDOT is currently challenged with using the limited funds available to squeeze the most possible out of the existing transportation system. The key for this Open-End Agreement is to enhance the intermodal aspect of Pennsylvania's transportation system. The time has clearly passed for being able to separately address passenger travel, rail freight systems, trucking systems, aviation, and other modes has clearly past. The Department will attempt to better understand the interrelationship among the needs and demands of all modes and find ways of addressing them collectively.  Read More...
Firm services Marcellus Shale drilling operations

Navarro & Wright is experienced and poised to provide services to assist with the Marcellus Shale drilling campaign in Pennsylvania.   The firm is currently working with several majors players in the gas exploration arena to provide permitting, design, alignment, and construction drawings for their drilling projects in north central PA and the southern tier of NY.
We have been providing permitting, surveying, and engineering services to both the gas exploration and production side, as well as the non-production (support) aspects of the energy industry.  Navarro & Wright also provides necessary Environmental Services which are needed as part of the drilling and piping operations such as well location plats, wetland delineations, Erosion and Sediment Control Plans, NPDES permits, and Environmental Site Assessments.
The following article from Mining Exploration News;  Marcellus Shale Seminar : Mining Drilling Impact on Local Watersheds  outlines the concerns of local organizations and the impact of the drilling operations.
Article:  Marcellus Shale gas well drilling has been making big headlines as a possible boost to Pennsylvania's economy, as long as it is done properly.

N&W claims Energy Grants for clients
energy   Navarro & Wright is helping local municipal clients apply for much needed energy grant money as part of the federal funding that Pennsylvania will receive under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act's State Energy Program.
PA Conservation Works! is a new grant program for local government and non-profit entities seeking to conserve or reduce energy use and will provide up to $250,000 for individual projects and $500,000 for joint projects designed to increase energy efficiency, reduce energy consumption and reduce energy costs by at least 25 percent. It is a competitive grant program and is open to Pennsylvania boroughs, townships and cities with fewer than 35,000 residents and counties with fewer than 200,000 residents. Renewable energy projects will also be eligible if they replace at least 25 percent of a building's or entity's energy use.
Green Energy Works! will fund combined heat and power projects, which generate power and thermal energy from a single source. The program will eventually provide a total of $52 million to Pennsylvania for projects to help increase energy efficiency, reduce reliance on foreign energy sources, improve service reliability, and reduce the impact of energy production on the environment. It will also fund future solar, wind and biogas projects.
Navarro & Wright is working with the Borough of Steelton for Pa Conservation Works! funding on an energy saving project to construct energy saving improvements at the water filtration plant including the pumping facility and lighting.  The firm is also working with other municipal clients to help prepare for these new energy grants.
