Spring Flowering Bulbs
From Holland Have Arrived!
Beautiful Spring
Now is the time to prepare for a one of a kind spring display...in your own landscaping. Our shipment of spring flowering bulbs has arrived from Holland and are ready for you to see. As is always true, the best selection can be seen early in the season and that's now. We have at least 20 new varieties, many in very limited quantities, among our over 300 bulb varieties; so come by soon.

Also now here are fall blooming bulbs and, again, now is the time. Fritillaria should be planted now as should colchicum and fall crocus. (Plant your colchicum in a container for your window sill now and transplant it to your garden after it blooms.) All of the fall bloomers can be planted directly into your garden right now.

We have a selection called "Beautiful Blend" which takes the guess work out of what to plant with what. If you are new to bulb gardening or if you want a thoughtful gift (any weddings or showers coming up?) "Beautiful Blend" is perfect.

Triumph tulips should be in everyone's garden. Their long stems make them great cut flowers.

Take a look at the Split Corona Narcissus. It looks just like the old fashioned daffodils you used to see in grandma's garden.

A tulip tip:  it is a bit early to plant your tulip bulbs. We don't want them to sprout yet. Keep them in their bag but open the bag and store them in the basement where it is cool. In 3 weeks or so, the soil temperature will be lower and it will tulip planting time but don't wait until then to get your bulbs. Remember, the best selection can be see right now.

There just isn't room here to tell you everything there is to tell about our bulbs. This is an exciting time at the garden center. Just like in January when seeds arrive for the new growing year and you can gaze at all of the seed packets and dream about the fall harvest, this is the time to see the possibilities for spring 2012. Hope to see you soon!

There are several times throughout the year when things are truly exciting at Wedel's. It's always fun to be here but when we see a new season on the horizon that means new things for you here. For example, January brings flower and vegetable seeds and September brings bulbs. Well, they're here and there are lots of them. Wait until you see some of the new varieties for this year. Truly amazing.

What else does fall mean? The Wedel's Petting Zoo, of course! That will be here before you know it! Reserve Friday, September 30 and Saturday, October 1 for some family time at the zoo. Bring the kids. Bring the camera. Click here for all of the details!

See you soon!
